Our Featured Felines...Are Duffy, Sugar Plum, Mimsy, and Tandy and Mandy!

Our featured felines are Duffy, Sugar Plum, Mimsy, and Tandy and Mandy shown above. Also shown are two of our wonderful volunteers, Taylor and Jordan, who come to the shelter every week with their mom Amy to help and love some cats ! Duffy came to the shelter last summer in bad shape but is doing great now. He was recently adopted and was a perfect gentleman and loved but he was really really afraid of the dogs at his new house so decided to come back and is now looking for a dog-less home. Sugar Plum (tiger) is one of the many victims of the mortgage crisis and came to the shelter in December with six kittens, all of whom have been adopted. She is a gorgeous young tiger who is very friendly, sweet and affectionate but is having a hard time adjusting to the shelter as we have a lot of cats these days. Mimsy came last summer and is a little shy but very gentle and sweet. Something happened to one of her eyes along the way so she can only see from one eye but it doesn't bother her !

I have also been specifically asked to send out an ALL POINTS CAT BULLETIN on Tandy and Mandy. They are a brother and sister that have lost two homes now to death and illness who really need another home. They are healthy lovely friendly warm lap cats and are going to be living temporarily at one of our Vet's offices because they would be so unhappy at the crowded shelter ! Please call Sandy to inquire about adopting them or another of our kittens or adult cats and set up an appointment to come and meet everybody.

Kitty Angels State of the Shelter Report

Hi, my name is Buzz and I am the mayor of the shelter. Here is my State of the Shelter report for the week ending June 16th.

Before I get on to more serious business, welcome to the Kitty Angel's site. We are very glad to have you here and reading about us. To get this in up front we are looking for adopters as well as people who might be able to foster kittens or cats or volunteer at the shelter. We have also recently started a program called Animals for Elders for older people who love cats but don't have them because they are afraid of what would happen to them if something happened. If you qualify for our Animals for Elders program you may adopt one of our older cats and if something happens they will always have a safe place to go.

As of this report the latest adoptees are Suzy Q (boy does her new owner love her) and Nandy. Sandy has also taken in some kittens as it is kitten season again and there are a lot of them out there that need homes. Please check out Frankie and Charlie who are very cute (and being fostered by a family on a porch in West Hartford) and really need a home. Other relative newcomers that came in together a few weeks ago are Gigi, Wilson, and Maude. Sweet Wolfie came back a lttle while ago after being adopted a few months ago because the other cat at his new home really didn't like him being there and Princess is another former adoptee who had to come back last week who is one of the most friendly and human loving cats you will ever meet.

As of June 16th Sandy has a bunch of kittens but it is really hard for me to keep track of all the kitten coming and going. There are a kitten pictures in the entries labelled Kittens, More Kittens, and Even More Kittens but the best thing to do is to get in touch with Sandy (or Annie her back up) for details. Other kittens we have are Ninja and Lucerne and young cats are Kris who is about 6 months old now and Moonbeam (and her sidekick Arlo), Zenith and Cajun (who is now the loviest boy you will ever meet).

Please bear with me while I make a comment about adopting full grown cats. There are many fabulous cats at the shelter young and old that are extremely friendly and good and who would really like to have their own humans. I have had people tell me that they are concerned about them being wild and not litter trained and other not so nice stuff and I want you to know that those things are just NOT true. As mayor of Kitty Angel's, I can assure you that Sandy and I do not allow residents to be adopted unless they are litter trained and able to get along well with people. Cats aren't at the shelter because of bad things they did, they are here because their humans couldn't care for them anymore or bad things that people did to them and by adopting one you can give them a second chance. Believe me, they'll thank you for it !

I also wanted to talk to you about being a Kitty Angel's foster family or volunteering at the shelter. If you live in the area and could have a foster kitten or cat in your home or have some time to help out at the shelter we almost always have someone who would be interested in being fostered and we could also always use help. We guarentee our volunteers get lots of cat love ! Please call Sandy at the number below to talk about it if that is a possibility for you.

That's all for this week. This is Buzz, signing off and hoping to see you around real soon........

Who We Are

Kitty Angel's is a cat shelter, sanctuary, and rescue service located in Coventry, Connecticut. Please see the weekly report above from Buzz, our mayor, for our news this week.

Adopting a friend

When you adopt a cat or kitten from Kitty Angel's they will have been spayed or neutered (if they are too young when they are adopted we have you bring them back for this when they are ready), been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, and have all their intial shots. The fee we charge for your healthy cat or kitten to support the shelter is $100 which is much less than the going rate for these things at your local vet.

Come Visit Us!

We would love to have you come visit and meet us. Please call Sandy, our human, who owns and runs the shelter at 860-742-8250 to set up a time to come. If you can't get in touch with Sandy at the number above and you are interested in adopting a cat you may also call Annie at 860-985-6743. She will make sure that your message gets to Sandy and that someone gets back to you as soon as possible. Also, we are actually in Coventry, not Tolland but need to get our post office box changed which we are planning to do very soon !
