Our featured felines are Charley, Wilson, Callie and Joey and Muzby. Charley is a young very handsome grey tiger who is not too fond of all the other cats but loves humans and human attention. Wilson's former human lost their home so he came to the shelter. He is all black with grey underneath (in Persians Sandy says they call it smoke) and just loves loves loves people and to sit in your lap. Callie and Groucho are new to the site and being taken care of by a good Samaritan under her porch but need a home ! Check them out. Muzby is a 9 year old declawed boy who needs a new home because his human child is starting to be allergic to cats. We don't have any kittens right now but kitten season will start soon and that will change so if you are looking for a kitten please check back in a month or two.
Hi, my name is Buzz and I am the mayor of the shelter. Here is my State of the Shelter report as of March 18th. The most exciting news I have had for a long time is that Kitty Angels now has their own website which you can reach by going to kittyangelsofct.org where you can read more about us and make donations to help which all the cats would really appreciate !Before I get on to more serious business, welcome to the Kitty Angel's site. We are very glad to have you here and reading about us. To get this in up front we are looking for adopters as well as people who might be able to foster kittens or cats or volunteer at the shelter. Sandy gets calls almost every day about litters of kittens needing help so we would really love help with fostering of kittens right now. We have also recently started a program called Animals for Elders for older people who love cats but don't have them because they are afraid of what would happen to them if something happened. If you qualify for our Animals for Elders program you may adopt one of our older cats and if something happens they will always have a safe place to go.
It has been a really good week. Onyx, Lightening, Siara, Macy and Brooklyn were all adopted which was great. We also have a bunch of new arrivals which you should also check out. First there is M who was found by Sandy when she was trapping feral cats in Brooklyn but he isn't feral at all. We are also looking for a home or homes for Callie and Joey who are 1 year old and being taken care of but living under an enclosed porch outside. Another new picture up is Samson, a very handsome orange boy who is very unhappy in his current foster home and looking for a quiet place. Also check out Candy and Larkin who are at a foster home and would dearly love homes of their own.
As I said above, we don't have any kittens now but kitten season is going to start up soon so that will change fast.
Please bear with me while I make a comment about adopting full grown cats. There are many fabulous cats at the shelter young and old that are extremely friendly and good and who would really like to have their own humans. I have had people tell me that they are concerned about them being wild and not litter trained and other not so nice stuff and I want you to know that those things are just NOT true. As mayor of Kitty Angel's, I can assure you that Sandy and I do not allow residents to be adopted unless they are litter trained and able to get along well with people. Another thing to remember is that when you adopt a full grown cat you will have a much better idea of "who they are" and how they will be with you then when you adopt a kitten. Cats aren't at the shelter because of bad things they did, they are here because their humans couldn't care for them anymore or bad things that people did to them and by adopting one you can give them a second chance. Believe me, they'll thank you for it !
I also wanted to talk to you about being a Kitty Angel's foster family or volunteering at the shelter. If you live in the area and could have a foster kitten or cat in your home or have some time to help out at the shelter we almost always have someone who would be interested in being fostered and we could also always use help. We guarentee our volunteers get lots of cat love ! To discuss volunteering, please call Bruce, our volunteer who coordinates volunteering :>), at 860-424-7304.
That's all for this week. This is Buzz, signing off and hoping to see you around real soon........
If you are interested in volunteering, please call Bruce at 860-424-7304. Please call Sandy, our human, who owns and runs the shelter and takes care of all of us (!) at 860-742-8250 for any other questions that you might have. Also, we are actually in Coventry, not Tolland but need to get our post office box changed which we are planning to do very soon !
