Our featured felines are the kittens and as you can see from above we have quite a few right now. Pictured above are Spitfire (who is Sandy kidding, she is a purr engine), Emile, Chi-Chi (who doesn't like to have her picture taken), and the beautiful Copper. Also on deck is Tessa who just had four kittens who have all been adopted and she is looking for a home too. Please call Annie at the number below to arrange to make an appointment to come and meet them, you won't be sorry !

Kitty Angels State of the Shelter Report

Hi, my name is Buzz and I am the mayor of the shelter. Here is my State of the Shelter report as of November 13th.

Before I get on to more serious business, welcome to the Kitty Angel's site. We are very glad to have you here and reading about us. To get this in up front we are looking for adopters as well as people who might be able to foster kittens or cats or volunteer at the shelter. Sandy gets calls almost every day about litters of kittens needing help so we would really love help with fostering of kittens right now. We have also recently started a program called Animals for Elders for older people who love cats but don't have them because they are afraid of what would happen to them if something happened. If you qualify for our Animals for Elders program you may adopt one of our older cats and if something happens they will always have a safe place to go.

This has been a very good week for adoptions again. All four of Tessa's kittens have found homes and Malibu (one of the last of the Black & White Brigade) and Boa who just got here also was adopted. Times are good. A new man in town is Big Boy (otherwise known as the Creamster for Creamsicle where he was eating before he came to the shelter). He is a great big orange and white lovable Coventry Lake boy looking for a nice quiet home whose picture is now up. Other relative newcomers are Charley who came back after it was determined that the male humans in his new house scared him to death, any ladies out there interested in a sleek young gorgeous grey tiger boy, check him out ! We also posted pictures a few weeks ago of Mandarin who is a gorgeous friendly girl. New pictures of Genevieve, Nandy, Montana and Jeffrey are also up and last but not least, check out Candy and Larkin who are at a foster home and would dearly love homes of their own.

I just put up new pictures of Copper, Spitfire, and Tessa. Please get in touch with Annie for details. Other young cats are Kris who is about 6 months old now and Moonbeam (and her sidekick Arlo), and Zenith.

Please bear with me while I make a comment about adopting full grown cats. There are many fabulous cats at the shelter young and old that are extremely friendly and good and who would really like to have their own humans. I have had people tell me that they are concerned about them being wild and not litter trained and other not so nice stuff and I want you to know that those things are just NOT true. As mayor of Kitty Angel's, I can assure you that Sandy and I do not allow residents to be adopted unless they are litter trained and able to get along well with people. Cats aren't at the shelter because of bad things they did, they are here because their humans couldn't care for them anymore or bad things that people did to them and by adopting one you can give them a second chance. Believe me, they'll thank you for it !

I also wanted to talk to you about being a Kitty Angel's foster family or volunteering at the shelter. If you live in the area and could have a foster kitten or cat in your home or have some time to help out at the shelter we almost always have someone who would be interested in being fostered and we could also always use help. We guarentee our volunteers get lots of cat love ! To discuss volunteering, please call Bruce, our volunteer who coordinates volunteering :>), at 860-424-7304.

That's all for this week. This is Buzz, signing off and hoping to see you around real soon........

Who We Are

Kitty Angel's is a cat shelter, sanctuary, and rescue service located in Coventry, Connecticut. Please see the weekly report above from Buzz, our mayor, for our news this week.

Adopting a friend

When you adopt a cat or kitten from Kitty Angel's they will have been spayed or neutered (if they are too young when they are adopted we have you bring them back for this when they are ready), been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, and have all their intial shots. The fee we charge for your healthy cat or kitten to support the shelter is $110 which is much less than the going rate for these things at your local vet.

Come Visit Us!

We would love to have you come visit and meet us. Beginning the week of October 18th our hours for adoptions are Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 5, Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4, and Friday nights from 4:30 to 6:30. If you are interested in adopting please call Annie at 860-985-6743 to set up an appointment to go to the shelter and meet everyone and Sandy during one of these times. If one of them isn't good for you we can also set up a special appointment.

If you are interested in volunteering, please call Bruce at 860-424-7304. Please call Sandy, our human, who owns and runs the shelter and takes care of all of us (!) at 860-742-8250 for any other questions that you might have. Also, we are actually in Coventry, not Tolland but need to get our post office box changed which we are planning to do very soon !
