Our Featured Pet...

OPAL (TOP) and PEARL (BOTTOM) are 3-year old sisters who need a forever home! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WE NEED FOSTER HOMES! Can you help? WE CANNOT CONTINUE OUR LIFESAVING WORK IF WE DON'T HAVE HELP! We could save the lives of more needy animals if we had access to more loving, temporary homes. H.E.A.R.T Rescue pays for the food, supplies and veterinary care for your foster "fur-kid". You provide play time, feed time and the space! You'd be saving a life at no cost to you! If you are willing and able to commit to being a foster parent for a H.E.A.R.T rescued animal, please email: heidimsw@yahoo.com. We'd love to hear from you! You say you can't adopt or foster but you still want to help? We are currently in need of cat litter and cat food....We like scoopable (clumping) cat litter - clay for adult cats and wheat / pine / corn-based for tiny kittens. We use Purina O.N.E. and Science Diet cat / kitten food (dry only) ! Email us for a convenient drop-off or pick-up location! Thanks for helping us to give aid to more homeless animals!

Who We Are

WELCOME TO "KITTEN SEASON"! IF YOU FIND A STRAY LITTER OF KITTENS, PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO TAKE THEM IN! WE ARE NOT ANIMAL CONTROL! It is not our responsibility to clean up the messes that others have made due to their refusal to have their cats spayed or neutered. We will consider taking in a stray IF you will consider making a donation to the animal's care. We are a VERY small, no-kill, ALL-VOLUNTEER rescue dedicated to rescuing and re-homing abandoned animals who need and deserve new, loving forever-homes. We work out of foster homes and do not have a shelter facility. We do not accept "owner-turn-ins". Please do NOT email asking us to take in your pet due to moving, allergies, etc. We only rescue animals who are living on the streets or whose "time is up" (they will be euthanized) at municipal pounds and shelters. Adoption fees will vary from animal to animal, depending upon how much we've had to spend on the animal's care. For instance, animals who come to us already spayed/neutered will have a smaller adoption fee than those for whom we had to to pay for spay/neuter surgery. Please note that we do NOT "make profits" - EVER - on the animals we rescue and adopt out. We SPEND more than we ever GET BACK from our adoption fees. We are currently operating in the red!!!! The purpose for charging an adoption fee is to help us partially off-set the costs incurred by the housing, the feeding and (especially) the veterinary care of our rescues. Your adoption donation helps us to assist more animals in need!

Adopting a friend

Interested parties MUST be over 21 years of age to adopt. Also, you MUST fill out an adoption inquiry / application as the first step in adopting from H.E.A.R.T. Rescue. Please note that the application process is NOT meant to be invasive. We want to try to make the BEST possible matches between our foster animals and prospective adopters. This will lessen the chances that a bad match will be made and that the animal will be returned to us rather than finding a forever home. That is why our application contains questions regarding the prospective adopter's dog / cat "lifestyle" preferences. In addition, we are a foster-home based rescue, and we do not have a physical facility with set hours available for visits from the public. Our foster homes are made up of individuals who must open their OWN PRIVATE HOMES to strangers for visits with the foster animals. In order to ensure everyone's comfort and security, we require a record of the prospective visitor's name and address prior to arranging any visits in the foster home(s). PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO REQUEST AN APPLICATION IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO FILL IT OUT! IT TAKES 5 TO 10 MINUTES TO FILL OUT OUR APPLICATION! It is a waste of everyone's time and energy to send out applications and then chase people around via email when they never send the application back filled out. H.E.A.R.T. Rescue is run by VOLUNTEERS who do not get paid for rescuing and adopting out animals. Outside of the rescue we all have full-time jobs, families, friends, permanent / foster animals and other time-consuming obligations. Our intention is not to sound "rude" in this request. However, we simply do not have the time to answer multiple daily emails from the people who feign interest in adopting, (getting our hopes up), but who would rather not spend 5-10 minutes filling out the application because it's too much work. Please know that when you fill out an application, we do appreciate your time! Thank you for choosing rescue! CAT adoption fees will vary from $50-$100, depending on how much veterinary care was given by us (which we paid for out-of-pocket) and how long the cat was in our care. DOG adoption fees vary from $150-$250, for the same reasons as above. (Altering / vaccinating / de-worming a dog costs quite a bit more than the same vet work for cats; hence the higher adoption fee).

Come Visit Us!

Directions to our foster homes will be given to those whose completed adoption applications are on file with us. No phone calls will be made and no visits will be arranged until the application has been filled out and sent to us. We thank you for your understanding and support of our policies!
