We are based in Canton, CT, and limit our adoptions to Connecticut residents. If you reside in another state or outside our operating area, please contact a different rescue group to find out about adopting through them.
Our adoptable Goldens come from local shelters, as well as from local owners who have made the tough decision to give up their special dogs to loving homes. We sometimes also help to place Goldens by partnering with affiliated rescue groups in other regions, but our primary focus is on local Connecticut dogs.
Our dogs which are available for adoption are often staying with temporary foster families while they wait to find their forever homes. We need more foster families to allow us to quickly take action when we learn of a Golden in need and to help prepare the dogs for life with a new, permanent family. Please send an e-mail inquiry for more information about fostering a rescue Golden.
If you are considering surrendering your Golden to our rescue group, rest assured we will do everything possible to accept and place your dog into a great home.
If you are selected, a volunteer will contact you to discuss further steps. If you are still interested and we feel a match is likely, we will contact your vet for a reference check, and then arrange for one of our volunteers to conduct a home visit to meet you and see your home, so that we know that the dog you are interested is going to be what you need and that your home is what he or she needs.
If we approve your application and you make a commitment to adopt the dog, you will then need to sign an adoption contract and pay the relevant fee (see our main CTGRR web site for further info). Once that is all completed, your new Golden will be turned over to you. You will be responsible for all future veterinary care, as well as the proper licensing of your pet in your town.
