Pet of the Month

**THIS PET IS IN PRIVATE FOSTER CARE AND NOT LOCATED AT THE MANSFIELD ANIMAL SHELTER**They have no knowledge of this animal so please do not call the shelter. Hi, my name is Winslow, a snowshoe mix (short coat) boy kitty, about 9 weeks old. Winslow was found in tiny crate with his littermates in KY, where we were all stuffed in together. Not nice, but once we got all untangled and shook ourselves off, we were okay. (Next time we pay extra and get the bigger crate). Anyway, enough about our dreadful beginnings; it's time to talk about the future. I'm hoping you'll already have fallen in love with me from my picture and especially from my wonderful video. I really am as sweet and affectionate and loving off-camera as I am on-camera. Our rescue was lucky enough to get him and now he is looking for a new start in life. If you are interested in adopting Winslow then send us an e-mail.....he is good with other kitties and fine with dogs too. Please no small children under the age of 6 years old though...... His adoption fee is $125.00 to residents of CT, MA or RI only. .

NEWS

Rae is currently seeking a new home thanks to the many, many people that helped us save her from her injuries. She needs a very special home without other pets and someone that is willing to teach her the basics of being a good canine citizen. She does have an exuberance for life and is full of energy. She has typical young dog traits that she was probably never discouraged from doing so she doesnt know any better.

Updated photos of Rae from 4/16 after surgery :

Friends of Mansfield Animal Shelter Adoption Procedures:

Must fill out application form completely including a vet reference and phone number (if it takes us time to research YOUR vets number its slows down your application process). If you do not have a current vet you must provide (3) personal references of non-family members.

All potential adoptions DO require a home visit by a member of our respected rescue community. There are NO exceptions to this rule.

If you live on a busy street that is heavily traveled you will be required to have conventional fencing of at least 4 ft in height. This means chain link or stockade type fencing (no invisible fence, stone walls or post and rail)

Please NO children under the age of 8 years for our young puppies

You must be 21 years of age to legally adopt a dog from us since it requires signing a contract.

YOU MUST FILL OUT THE APPLCATION BEFORE VISITING THE ANIMAL OF INTEREST. This process can take up to two weeks so if you are looking for instant gratification don't bother filling out an application. We are all volunteers with "real" jobs, foster dogs, fundraising activities and family lives. If you are not serious about adopting and are only window shopping - don't waste a rescue groups' time and we won't waste yours. Also be courteous and if you have applications on several puppies in several places please let all parties know this information as it does make a difference in the decision making process.

Who We Are

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on helping the animals at the town municipal pound in Mansfield, CT. We raise money in efforts of helping the pets at the shelter have a better life while they are waiting for a new, loving home. Our goal in the future is to see the shelter improved by rebuilding or renovation.

Adopting A Friend

We also have a very small program of rescue dogs that are privately fostered by area homes. We have an occasionally pup or two that is rescued from a kill shelter in another area or state. We have an adoption process that includes application, interview, vet reference, home visits and then finally meeting the animal. Otherwise our main focus is to get the dogs from our local pound into new homes....you can see the available dogs at the shelter: Mansfield Animal Shelter
