Our Pet List

Our Featured Pet..... Gracie

Gracie is currently living in a foster home, with a caring foster dad. But she needs to find her forever home now. Her foster dad reports she is a very nice girl, and shy. Gracie is especially good with his son, Corwin. "While she's warmed up a lot to Corwin and me, she's still shy around me. Corwin's a different story though, every animal loves him and Gracie's no exception. She loves to walk, loves attention, and is a first-rate snuggler. She's totally fine with cats (actually, my cats, at least, tend to dominate) and kids in the 8+ range. Don't know about younger ones. She's shy. Also, her cocked ear and twisty tail are endearing features." Gracie has a friend in a little girl, who takes her for walks and always puts a flower in her collar. FORG has partnered up with Crowley County Correctional Facility and started a Cell Dogs program! A special program has been created between FORG and CCCF to bring in rescued greyhounds from us to CCCF to be trained, cared, and handled by select pairs of inmates at the facility. This program has done wonders for both dogs and handlers. So far, the program has been a great success and we have 20 pairs of inmates participating in the program now! Visit our website: http://www.friendsofretiredgreyhounds.org for more information.

Please take a look at our website and join us for any event that you can! We would love to meet you, and to see old friends. We are always looking for volunteers and foster homes. If you or any friends are interested, come visit us! Come on over and take a look.

Who We Are

Friends of Retired Greyhounds is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to: Cooperating with kennel operators and other adoption groups to place retired greyhounds in responsible, loving homes. Working with veterinarians to insure that dogs adopted from "F.O.R. Greyhounds" are altered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and in general good health before placing them in homes; Educating individuals and groups about greyhounds, their history, their lives as racing dogs, and our adoption program.

Adopting a friend

Adopting a retired racing greyhound allows a very special dog to be able to live out the rest of it's life in a comfortable, loving home once it's working career is over. Many seem to think greyhounds need lots of exercise and room. But really, most of them do not. Most are very laid back and make great apartment dogs. Make a place in your heart for a very special companion today!
