If you go through Boulder be sure to stop the Humane Society and see all the fun.
We also post courtesy postings for families that cannot keep their pets for a varity of reasons. If you can't keep your pet, if you find a stray, or have lost your pet -- we will post their picture and information about them for free. Why? Simply because we love them.
Who We Are
The Doghouse is the creation of animal lovers and volunteers of the Colorado Dogs Deserve Better group. Some call us "crazed women" on a mission. Please Note: men are welcome to join. We pull animals from local high kill shelters such as the Yuma Pound (who puts down after 5 days), Washington County Shelter in Akron (who puts down every Friday), and Wray, including surrounding areas such as Otis, Lone Star and Eckley, while others may come from homes that can no longer keep them. Some of the animals are lucky enough to get into foster families (when available) to buy more time while searching for their forever home. We are really proud to be part of Petfinder. Dogs Deserve Better (DDB) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization so any donation would be tax deductable. DDB is known nationally for promoting the doctrine NO CHAINS! We are an advocacy group dedicated to getting dogs off chains and into the family. Colorado DDB volunteers are in Akron, Sterling, Yuma, Wray, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Lone Star, Boulder, surrounding Denver areas and still growing. Founder, Tammy S.
