Craig Animal Shelter

Our Pet List

Our Featured Pet...

Our featured pet is Shyanne, a beautiful female border collie mix. Shyanne was found abandoned at one of our local schools and was living in the bushes until someone notified us about her. She was very scared of us and had to be caught with a live trap. Now that we have her, she is a very sweet dog but is still pretty shy. Once she gets to know you, she loves you and is very affectionate. She seems to be afraid of men more so, but is not aggressive towards them. We think with time, she will get over this. She has obviously been through a difficult time and will need patience, love and understanding and she'll become a wonderful pet. She should be in a home without cats!

Who We Are

The Craig Animal Shelter is located at Bear Creek Animal Hospital. We utilize a section of their boarding kennel to house animals that come in from Craig and the surrounding area. Having our shelter located at an animal hospital ensures that each animal is provided with any veterinary care that it may need and that we are adopting out healthy animals. All puppies and kittens arriving at the shelter receive vaccinations and all cats are tested for feline leukemia. For information, please call 970-824-7235. You may e-mail us at KLJohnson@craigpolice.org. Thank you!

Adopting a friend

The Craig Animal Shelter makes every effort to match new owners with the right animals. We have an adoption questionaire for the potental adopter to fill out. If it will be a good match the new owner then fills out and signs an adoption agreement. Our adoption fees are $90.00 for cats and kittens, and $95.00 for dogs and puppies. All pets are spayed/neutered before being allowed to leave for their new homes or an appointment must be made to have the procedure done within 30 days. Our shelter does early spay/neuter of puppies and kittens and it has proven to be perfectly safe. Other arrangements can be made to have this done elsewhere if the adopter so desires, please speak to animal control about this and we can fill you in. This is our new city ordinance and there are no exceptions. The city of Craig is trying to do it's part in reducing the numbers of unwanted pets. Thank you for your understanding!
