Chance is about 1 year old. He was left at the shelter during the night. Chance is a very exceptional young boy. He's so super happy to meet everyone - people, and other dogs, too. He has a very good outlook and seems so interested in learning. He may want to chase cats. Chance needs some work on leash, but he's certainly ready to play.

The 5th Annual Peacock Ball was held March 28, 2009 at the Aultman Hall for dinner, dancing, raffles and silent auction. The event is to fund current shelter operations and those who attended enjoyed the evening to support our furry friends. Special thanks to all the Board Directors, volunteers, and Corporate Sponsors who helped make this year's event a success. Outstanding volunteers honored this year were Joelle Sissons and Sylvia Crisler.
The Max Fund Outreach Program will have their next spay/neuter clinic for Noah's Ark on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Dr. Watts and her staff have appointments for 30 animals, dogs and cats, available to qualified low income residents of Las Animas County. A $15 fee per animal is all it costs you, certainly much less than if you had the animal spayed or neutered anywhere else. Call Lucy at the shelter, Monday - Friday 719-680-2385, between 9:00 am and 12 noon to make an appointment and get qualified. The animal MUST be vaccinated for rabies. The spay/neuter clinic will be held at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds. Call, get your pet signed up, and participate in this very important event to help control pet overpopulation to reduce the number of unwanted pets for Las Animas County.
Who We Are
Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with our mission to enhance the care and living conditions of domestic animals within the city of Trinidad and Las Animas county, with emphasis on population control, disease prevention, adoption programs, support of shelters, and the education of the community on animal care issues. We have received grants in the past for spay/neutering dogs and cats to reduce the number of homeless pet animals, and will continue to pursue available funds. All charitable donations to us are tax deductible and will be acknowledged for your tax purposes.
Our Board
Noah's Ark board and officers have been successfully operating the shelter since 2001. It is an active working board making events happen in the Trinidad area. New Board members who love animals and have plenty of time to serve on our Board are needed. Applicants must live in Las Animas County, Colorado. If this sounds like you, please send a letter of interest to PO Box 478, Trinidad CO 81082. Past events have included the Trinidaddio Blues Fest, newsletter "Noah's Bark", Paws in the Park, garage sales, Peacock Ball, Yellow Doggies donation containers, New Shelter Advisory Board, Feral Cat Program, and animal care education for elementary school students.
Adopting a friend
Adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding, and medical care for over 1000 homeless animals needing help every year.
Dog adoption fee: $50* includes distemper vaccination (does not include rabies).
Cat adoption fee: $15* includes FVRCP vaccination (does not include rabies).
*Any dog that has not been altered will be spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter.
Foster a pet
If you have animal handling experience and would like to help Noah's Ark by fostering a pet, contact the shelter for more information. Our Foster Care program consists of 3 categories:
Kittens: Some kittens come to the shelter without a mother, or need to be removed from the mother. If you have experience feeding and caring for newborn kittens, and can keep them until they're 8 weeks old and weigh 2 pounds, we could use your help.
Puppies: Some puppies come to the shelter without a mother, or need to be removed from the mother. If you have experience feeding and caring for newborn puppies, and can keep them until they're 8 weeks old and a healthy weight for the breed, we could use your help.
Special Needs dogs: Some dogs come to the shelter in need of training, socializing, or with health concerns. If you have experience with caring for and/or training dogs, we could use your help.
