We now have a part time shelter assistant who is available Wednesday - Friday from 11 am to 3:30 pm, appointments are appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. So stop by and meet Gilberta Mathews... welcome Gilberta!
Who We Are
We are available Monday & Tuesday from 10 AM to 4 PM BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! Walk-ins are welcome Wed. - Fri. from 11 am to 3:30 pm. The Animal Control Officer is on duty from 8am to 5 pm M-F. Call us at 970-874-1078. We have one Officer that handles the Shelter and Field calls 5 days a week. The Officer is in and out of the facility during these hours and will call you back as soon as possible. The Shelter is a small facility with 12 indoor / outdoor dog kennels and 9 cat cages. The Officer can also be contacted via e-mail at tammy.holden@delta-co.gov (this is not a link, but a valid e-mail address.) If you have not received a response from e-mail with in 48 hours, please call her or Gilberta at 970-874-1078 and be sure to leave a message with your name and phone number.
Adopting a friend
To adopt a pet from us please call 970-874-1078 to set an appointment to come introduce yourself to our furry friends. Most adoptions take less than a hour to complete.
Dogs are currently $20 and includes first shots, free veterinary exam and a subsidy coupon that covers a small portion of the spay or neuter with a participating Veterinarian.
Cats are $10 and includes first shots, free exam, a subsidy coupon that covers a small portion of the spay or neuter with a participating Veterinarian, and a cardboard pet carrier.
Come Visit Us!
The Animal Shelter is located at 640 W. 4th Street in Delta, Colorado. An Officer is there by appointment only (see hours above) so please call ahead to set your appointment. From Main Street go west on 4th Street about 5 blocks to where the pavement turns into gravel, on the left are two tan buildings... one is metal, one is modular, turn left between them, stop for the stop sign, turn right. We are the brown brick building at the west end of the Delta Public Works Department lot at 640 W. 4th Street.
