Thank you for those of you that have shown active adoption interest in our rescue dogs!
Who We Are
We are a small dog rescue group. We are dedicated to relieve the physical and psychological suffering of puppies and dogs. Part of our philosophy is to keep our rescue numbers reasonable and for us, that number is around 1 to 3 rescues at a time. The reason is it isn't possible for us to properly care for, retrain or exercise them daily if we have more than 1 to 3 rescues at a time.
NEWS! Courageous Heart Rescue began to foster dogs for another rescue, National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado Springs, CO. If you have any questions regarding adoption of these dogs, either call or email us or National Mill Dog Rescue. You won't be sorry if you have a sincere desire to volunteer or adopt a dog in need!
We strife to maintain good working relationships with any shelter, other rescue groups, and to public/private surrenders. We are very grateful and appreciate their hard work in helping puppies and dogs in need!
We keep our rescues for a minimum of two weeks. This is to find out the personality of the dogs or if any health issues that may arise in that time frame we are able to address it for the rescue dog's benefit and the prospective adoptive family.
Our philosophy is inspired by "The Starfish Story"
There was a man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day.
So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.
As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?" The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean. The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don't throw them in they'll die."
"But, young man, don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it. You can't possibly make a difference!"
The young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said-
"It makes a difference to that one."
Adopting a friend
We are the dog's advocate. Our adoption paperwork is a necessary process to insure the protection of our rescue's dogs. The process is as follows: We will send, fax, or email you a copy of our prescreening questions and adoption agreement.
After you fill it out and it is approved, then a home visit is to follow. We will only adopt to a 3 hour radius of Centennial, Colorado, however, there are exceptions to this.
Presently, we do not have a place for you to come and visit. However, if you have any questions about care of your puppy or dog, we will assist you as much as we can.
