With spring comes the warm weather for which we have been longing after such a hard winter with lingering snow! Please be sure your pets always have fresh water and shelter from both the stormy spring weather when they are outside. If stormesfrighten your pets, please provide a safe place inside for them.
It's time to make an appointment with your vet to have your pets checked for heartworm soon, and keep them on preventative in the warmer months. We used to not have many cases of HW here in CO, but this is no longer the case. Better to be safe than sorry! Prevention of HW is easy - just one pill a month! The treatment for a dog who has contracted HW is harsh and also expensive. Please take precautions against heartworm!

Who We Are
NORTHERN COLORADO SHETLAND SHEEPDOG RESCUE (soon to become NorCO Sheltie Rescue) has relocated to Kersey, CO, about 20 miles east of Greeley. We take shelties (and sometimes other dogs and cats) needing new homes, vet them, love them, and find them that forever home where they will be loved and cherished as a family member. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, HW checked, and ready to be part of a special home. We foster all of our dogs in our homes where they are treated as family members during their stay here. In this way, we become very familiar with our pets and their personalities!
We require an application to be filled out, including personal and vet references that will be checked, and a personal home visit prior to adoption. We also require a fenced yard, with very few exceptions. We are very careful to match the dog and the family! We place our dogs only within a 100-mile radius of Greeley, CO. You must be willing and able to travel to pick up your new pet.
We sometimes also list dogs for our rescue friends as a courtesy!
We gladly and gratefully accept donations to help defray the cost of vetting and fostering our rescue dogs. If you would like to contribute to our rescue effort, please consider donating to us through our PayPal account! We also take donations of food, dog bedding, cat litter, etc. Please email us if you have something to donate!
