Second Chance Rescue is a small, 501c3 organization. It was formed approximately 7 years ago by 3 women who wanted to make a difference in the lives of as many animals as they could. SCR does not have a building or shelter, but is made up of foster homes. The animals that come to us are fostered in private homes until they are rehomed. While they are with us, we try to help them become more adoptable, by working on some of the needs they may have; including, socialization, housebreaking, basic commands, and walking nicely on leash, depending on the amount of time the animal spends with us.
Our dogs and cats are always spayed or neutered and visit our vet for a check-up and any needed shots, if they are not current, before they are adopted out. We do require potential adopters to fill out a contract and we charge an adoption fee, which helps to cover our expenses in getting them ready for adoption.
Our rescue group is dedicated to finding permanent homes for the animals who pass through our organization. Some of them come from the local humane society and are transferred to us for various reasons because they cannot be adopted out by them. Others are owner surrenders. Whatever the circumstances, the animals we take in stay with us until they find their new and permanent, loving homes. Unfortunately, we have very few foster homes. Families who are willing to open their homes to these animals in need are scarce. Because of our limited resources, it also limits the number of animals we can take in. Foster homes are always needed, as are donations.
Second Chance Rescue is a very small organization but, with the help of friends, we are growing and we hope that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of animals in our communities. We are listed on Petfinder.com, as well as our own website www.scrco.org, where you can see our rescues who are looking for their "forever homes." Please visit us and see if we have your next, new canine or feline family member!
2. current vaccinations and rabies according to age
3. medical care/check up if needed
4. collar for dogs
5. medical history of the animal
5. For puppies the owner will be responsible for the remaining rounds of pup shots and rabies.
6. After the trial visit of 72 hours, the adoption donation will be deposited which is non-refundable. We typically spend $150 per animal before it is ready for adoption. Your adoption donation once deposited is basically already spent as we are usually operating in the "red." Thus refunds are not possible and the money just becomes a general donation which we desperately need and are extremely grateful for.
