Who We Are

Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue is a group of volunteers concerned with the welfare of Great Danes.

It is our purpose to find new, permanent, and loving homes for Great Danes that have been abused, neglected and/or abandoned in primarily Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, or Utah.

We are a nonprofit organization that derives its operating funds from donations.

Adopting a friend

The process starts with you making the decision to adopt a Great Dane. We encourage each adopter to gain as much information on owning a Great Dane as possible. If you visit our Great Dane Information page, we have links that will give you some good information.

The next step is to request an Adoption Application. Once you have filled out and returned the application, one of our volunteers will contact you. We try and get to know each prospective adopter to determine what the best type of personality in Dane would be a good match.

We will then perform a reference check. We do this to ensure and verify all the information received is correct and accurate. Below are the major requirements for adopting a Great Dane:

1. The prospective adopter(s) must have never been convicted of any animal abuse laws.
2. The yard must be fenced. Preferably with a 6 ft fence.
3. There must be sufficient area for proper exercise.
4. The Dane must be able to be kept indoors, especially during the winter.
5. In the event the new owners decide not to keep the Dane, they must agree, prior to formal adoption, to return the Dane to the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc.
6. All dogs will be spayed/neutered prior to being place, unless medical reasons prevent it. In the event a Dane can not be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption, the new owners will contractually agree to have the Dane spayed/neutered when medical status allows it.
