Who We Are
The Pet Adoption Connection is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We are a small group dedicated to the rescue and placement of unwanted or abandoned dogs and cats. We foster the animals in our own homes until they are placed in new permanent homes (we do NOT have a kennel facility). All animals are healthy, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, etc. before they are released from us. We do not kennel our animals, we foster them in our homes and therefore we know their temperament, personalities, likes and dislikes, thus helping us to match them with their new families.
Adopting a friend
When you come visit us at an adoption event to pick out a new member of your family you will be asked to fill out a short adoption contract. A Pet Adoption Connection volunteer will ask you some questions to make sure that the animal friend that you have chosen is the right fit for both you and the animal. Remember, adoption of an animal is a lifetime commitment. For this reason we have 2 ways to adopt an animal, either a one week trial or permanent placement. When you adopt an animal on a one week trial you have one week in which to make sure that the new pet fits into your household and if it doesn't you can return the animal to us within that week and we will refund your adoption fee. We want to make sure that the new member of your family is comfortable with you and you are comfortable with them. After the one week is over it becomes a permanent adoption. We do require that if you are adopting a puppy / dog from us that you own your home, and that you have a fenced yard big enough for the dog when it is full grown (as he/she will need a permanent yard to run around in).
DO NOT ADOPT A PUPPY JUST BECAUSE HE OR SHE IS CUTE! Take into consideration that a new owner should expect typical puppy behavior, which COULD include destructive behavior (chewing, digging, peeing on the carpet, etc.). Please keep in mind that puppies require time, effort, patience, and a larger monetary investment than an adult dog. You need to realize that you will get from a puppy exactly what you are willing to put into them… pretty much like kids! We ask that you give a lot of thought to whether you have the lifestyle and environment at this point in time to give this pup the home it deserves. (i.e, if you just got new carpet, furniture or landscaping… probably not the best time for a puppy!)
