WHO WE ARE

The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility's new shelter opened in the fall of 2001. We now offer many services, including stray and nuisance animal pick-up, acceptance of lost and relinquished animals, assistance for injured and sick stray animals, control of biter, vicious or threatening animals, lost and found assistance, as well as dog licensing. We also respond to cases of barking dog complaints, animals locked in hot cars, fighting animals, and animal cruelty.

If you have lost a pet in the cities of Chula Vista, Lemon Grove, National City or Imperial Beach, please go to the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility to look for your pet right away. Only you can identify your lost pet - do not rely on shelter staff to tell you over the phone whether your lost pet is at the shelter or not. Remember, animals wearing collars, IDs or licenses will often lose their tags. Once at the shelter, if you do not find your pet, you can fill out a lost and found report or leave a flyer. This is a very important step that should not be missed! We encourage all owners to check the shelter in person at least every 3 days as stray animals are taken in daily. Bring a leash with you and any proof of ownership you may have.

The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility encourages owners to spay and neuter their pets. There is a serious pet overpopulation problem occurring right now throughout San Diego county, causing in thousands of unwanted pets to be euthanized (humanely put to sleep) each year. By spaying or neutering your pet before it has offspring, you can be a part of the solution to this problem. Call your veterinarian today or call us for a referral to a local veterinarian participating in a low-cost program.
