News for January 2010

We regret to announce that we have closed our organization at the end of 2009, due to a lack of funding and volunteers. This site will be maintained until we have found forever-homes for our last remaining fosters. At the moment, the only cats we have in our foster program are the ones up for adoption on our site. We are no longer continuing our adoption events at the PetSmart in Elk Grove. Any interested adopters are urged to email us at charleenvit@yahoo.com in order to make arrangements to view the remaining fosters!

If you are interested in adopting from us, please note that you must complete and send in our adoption application which can be found on our website. Our kittens and cats are adopted for a $65 adoption fee, which helps to off-set our cost to spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinate and deworm them, as well as test them for FeLV/FIV and provide foster care. As we are facing the end, exceptions are being made to our standard adoption policies, procedures, and fees that are outlined on our website, http://www.feralfeline.org. Please let us know if you area unable to access the adoption information and/or application. For 6 years it has been our goal to save lives and make a difference; we are sad to see that end!

Who We Are

The Feral Feline Organization is a non-profit group that started out at the UC Davis campus in 2003. We are a California tax exempt organization though we are not a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit. In the past, we worked to trap-neuter-return (TNR) adult feral cats in Davis and the surrounding areas. We also trapped and rescued feral kittens, socialized and/or bottle-raised them, and adopted them out (as foster home space allowed). Our efforts to TNR adult feral cats allowed us to screen them for any feline diseases, vaccinate them, and alter them so that they could not continue to reproduce. We did this for hundreds of cats. All of this reduced the spread of diseases and overpopulation of feral cat colonies as well as ensured that people's outdoor pets were safer and healthier. Our efforts to remove feral kittens from colonies allowed us to socialize them so that they could become loving members of people's families instead of grow up with a difficult life out in nature. We are happy to have helped the hundreds of TNR'ed feral cats/kittens as well as the fostered & adopted cats/kittens during our short 6 years of dedicated service to our community.
