Raining Cats 'n' Dogs is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding adoptive homes for companion animals. All pets adopted through our program are spayed/neutered to prevent further overpopulation. Animals posted on our site will include our foster animals, as well as courtesy listings for local animal shelters and other rescues.

The Declawing Debate--Most people think declawing a cat simply involves removing the claw. However, it is actually an amputation of the toe at the last joint. On a human hand this would consist of amputating the ends of all fingers at the last knuckle.
Declawing is a very painful procedure which can result in other physical and behavioral problems. Raining Cats 'n' Dogs encourages you to try behavior modification or other alternatives in lieu of this mutilating surgery.

Adopting a friend
In order to adopt a pet through Raining Cats 'n' Dogs, you will need to fill out an application. Applications are available online at www.rainingcatsndogs.rescuegroups.org. Filling out an application does not guarantee that an animal will be placed in your home. If an animal is placed in your home, you will also need to sign an adoption contract.
The adoption fee for a cat is $70. This includes spay/neuter, FIV/FeLV testing, appropriate vaccinations, nail trimming, flea treatment/worming (when necessary), and a free health check at Dana Park Veterinary Hospital or VCA Companion Hospital. The adoption fee for dogs is $150 and up. This includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment/worming (when necessary), and a free health check at Dana Park Veterinary Hospital or VCA Companion Hospital. Adoption fees may vary for other animals, depending on the type of animal and the veterinary care it has received.
If you choose to adopt an animal from a courtesy listing, you will need to abide by that organization's adoption policy.
