WHO WE ARE

Grateful Dogs Rescue is the oldest all-breed rescue group in San Francisco. For more than two decades our mission has been to save the lives of dogs at San Francisco Animal Care and Control that are at risk of euthanasia. We save as many of these dogs as possible, place them in experienced foster homes, and provide veterinary care and training as needed until loving adopters can be found. We are a volunteer run organization with no paid staff, the funds that are donated to Grateful Dogs Rescue all go toward the care and training of the dogs.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home." The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home inspection, and adoption fee. The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, micro-chip, shots, and other medical care given before the dog is adopted. Adoptions are local, confined to the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you are interested in adopting one of the GDR dogs, please submit an adoption application.
Foster care is donated by volunteers. If you are interested in offering a temporary home for a foster dog, please contact us by phone, email or filling out a foster application.

Thank you for opening your heart to a Grateful Dog!
