Jewel

Jewel is approximately 4 years old and is need of an operation.

Jewel was rescued from a shelter late last year with a lesion on her side with what appeared like a tumor underneath. She was taken in for surgery and the tumor was removed and diagnosed as benign. A short time later another tumor developed in the same vicinity as the first. This was removed as well.

While she remains active as other dogs her age, Jewel, may have had a foxtail or other foreign body penetrate and lodge itself internally. Hopefully after the next surgery the foreign body can be removed and after recovery, Jewel can find a home.

In the photo above you can see a recent lesion that has developed in the past few weeks. If you look carefully you can also see the scar from her previous two surgeries.

Taking dogs to the vet is a normal. However, Jewel's vet bills have greatly exceeded the amount budgeted for all dogs medical bills. Please consider making a small donation to help pay for Jewel's medical bills.

All adopters are invited and encouraged to attend obedience training classes Saturday mornings. Classes provide the fundamentals for you and your dog to have a lasting relationship.

To get started fill out an application and either FAX or mail it in.

Who We Are

We are a breed-specific Rescue specializing in German Shorthaired Pointers (GSPs). As a not-for-profit organization, we operate through volunteers and networking to assure proper placement and lifetime assistance for each dog and enjoyment by adopting families. GSP Rescue takes purebred GSPs from any situation for careful evaluation and placement. All dogs are altered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and come with a warranty contract which provides lifetime training and support.

Expert knowledge of the GSP enables us to evaluate each dog's temperament, training, health and interaction with their environment including; children, cats, birds, other dogs, cars, house manners. We provide recommendations for necessary training too. This enables us to match the perfect dog to each adopter and find every GSP a perfect home!

Adopting a friend

Come Visit Us!

We are always looking for a few extra hands to help with obedience training and workdays at the ranch. If you are interested in helping out please contact us first to find out specifics.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering a GSP you will need to fill out a Family Profile - look for 'Adoption Application' in the pull down menu under 'The GSP Rescue'.

Please remember to call and make an appointment as we want to be available to spend time with you and have the best suited GSP on the premises for you to meet. In some cases it maybe necessary for us to make arrangements several days in advance with the foster home to have such a GSP at the rescue.
