Santé D'Or Foundation & Animal Rescue
Santé D'Or is a no-kill, non-profit animal rescue, founded in the summer of 2003.
We serve Southern California, primarily the Atwater, Los Feliz, Hollywood, and Silver Lake neighborhoods.
Please come visit the rescue and meet the animals! Our adoption days are Friday-Sunday, noon-5pm, and by appointment.
The mission of Santé D'Or Foundation is to rescue and provide holistically-based sanctuary to animals, while working to secure them permanent homes. Our organization is run by our executive director, and entirely staffed by volunteers. We offer a variety of services, acting as an educational resource in our neighborhood:
• rescue and adoption services
• boarding and fostering
• spay/neuter advocacy
• behavior and nutrition counseling
• community outreach.
Our philosophy is that with patience, sensitive observation, natural diet, and supplements (in conjunction with veterinary care), animals are often capable of self-healing, in spirit and body. We feed no-biproduct foods, and use environmentally sensitive cleaning products and litter. With this goal always in mind, our founders named the rescue Santé D'Or, French for “Golden Health.”
