Become a Placer SPCA Guardian Angel!

The Placer SPCA is looking for guardian angels to help us take care of the special needs animals who come to center. Whether an animal needs heartworm treatments, a surgery to remove a growth or a dental to improve its adoptability, your help could make the difference of a lifetime.

Please join us in helping those who cannot help themselves by visiting our Guardian Angel page to see the animals currently needing medical care. If donations exceed the amount needed for a specific animal, the additional amount will be applied to our general Guardian Angel Fund. This fund helps hundreds of special needs animals every year.

Adopting a friend

Every animal available for adoption has been carefully evaluated, and recommendations have been made that should assist you in your decision process.

To help us match you with the right pet, you will be asked to complete a Matchmaker/Companion Request Form. You can pick one up at our center, or find it online.

Once you have selected your pet and everyone in the family agrees on the new addition, it is time to talk with an adoption counselor. The counselor will help guide you in making the best match for your lifestyle.

Please visit our website for current adoption prices. All adoptions include, at minimum, a veterinary examination, vaccinations, and spay or neuter surgery.

If you have chosen a pet that is already spayed or neutered, you may take him or her home at the time of adoption, otherwise a surgery appointment will be scheduled. State law requires that no animal be released until they are spayed or neutered.

Once your new companion is home with you, remember that the Placer SPCA is a resource for you. We have valuable information about a variety of behavior issues, as well as information on transitioning a new pet into your home. Call our Behavior Hotline at (916) 782-7722 or (530) 885-7387, extension 258, or e-mail behavior@placerspca.org for free assistance.

P.S. Once everyone is settled in, we would love a picture of your new friend in your home!
