About German Shepherd Rescue

German Shepherd Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing and finding good homes for purebred German Shepherd Dogs. Our main shelter is located in Burbank, California, and houses about 30 dogs at any given time. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, and are up-to-date on their shots before placement. A donation to the rescue is requested when the adoption has been approved. Sorry, but we are currently able to adopt to homes in the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA ONLY.

Adopting a Friend

We are open for adoptions to qualified homes during the following hours:
Monday - Friday: By appointment only
Saturday - Sunday: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
We ask for a minimum donation of $250 when an adoption is approved for one of our dogs. This is a donation to our rescue and is non-refundable. These donations help to partially cover the costs of spaying/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food, and boarding while the dog is at the rescue.

Please note that we can only adopt to homes in the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA area. If you live outside of our area, please contact us at GSRescue@GSRescue.org and we can help you locate a rescue group near you.

Volunteering

The rescue is entirely run by volunteers. Volunteers can help by walking dogs, cleaning, feeding, transporting dogs to vet appointments, and helping out at adoption events in Los Angeles County. If you wish to join a great group of dedicated animal lovers, come by the rescue during our adoption hours and we'll get you started, or e-mail us at gsrescue@gsrescue.org. We conduct adoption events all over Southern California, so you don't have to live near Burbank to help out! Due to insurance restrictions, you must be at least 21 years of age to volunteer at the rescue.

Donations

It takes a lot to keep the rescue going, and all donations and adoption fees go directly into the care and feeding of the dogs. We gratefully accept donations of all kinds, including dog food and supplies, cleaning supplies, services that keep the rescue running, and of course financial donations to help more dogs in crisis. We can also use garage sale items (clean and working, please) that we can sell to raise money. All donations are tax deductable.

Can you help us to help more dogs?
