Be sure to have your animal microchipped and registered at the Fort Irwin VTF (Bldg 977) within ten days of bringing it to Fort Irwin. This is a post policy. Failure to comply may subject the owner to a citation or an Article 92.
Who We Are
Our shelter is a part of the Fort Irwin Veterinary Treatment Facility. Our mission is to provide temporary housing for abandoned or stray animals on Fort Irwin. We are unable to accept surrenders or animals found off post.
Adopting a friend
Please contact the shelter by phone, email, or by visiting between 1 and 4 p.m. on normal business days. The veterinary staff or Red Cross volunteers will be happy to assist you in viewing the animals and choosing a pet that is right for you and your family. We ask all interested parties to fill out an application form. This may take up to a week to process. We hope to find the perfect friend for your family that will stay with you from now on.
