Who We Are
OUR MISSION
To prevent the unnecessary destruction of dogs, help stray pets find loving, responsible homes, and strengthen the family bond between people and pets.

OUR PROFILE
Ruff Riders Rescue is a small, all-volunteer nonprofit organization committed to rescuing dogs, providing quality care to orphaned pets, and to promoting pets as life long family members. Our work is performed from our homes and at the Baldwin Park Shelter.

HOW WE HELP
Ruff Riders Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and restoring homeless dogs to loving homes by:

  • Volunteering with the Baldwin Park Shelter & assisting the public with selecting a new pet

  • Rescuing dogs from shelters or as strays

  • Providing shelter and foster care

  • Providing necessary veterinary care & spaying or neutering dogs prior to adoption

  • Networking with fellow rescue organizations to save and place dogs

  • Referring individuals who have a  dog to re-home to qualified individuals who would like to adopt a dog

  • Screening applicants for suitable pet homes

  • Using and honoring adoption contracts

  • Promoting responsible pet ownership through educating the public in the selection, care and training of dogs

  • Providing follow-ups with each pet owner to ensure successful adoptions

Our Dogs
All our dogs experience a home environment during their stay with Ruff Riders Rescue. They are either fostered by a volunteer full-time or their days are split between boarding and a volunteer's home. Every dog we rescue is given regular exercise, a healthy diet, medical attention when needed, socialization, and a ton of love.

Adopting a Friend
The fact that you are considering adopting from an animal rescue means you are a responsible and caring person and we appreciate that!

Many dogs we rescue are from Baldwin Park Shelter and were waiting for new homes because they were obtained by someone with unrealistic expectations of the time, effort, and money required to sustain a lifelong relationship with their pet.

In an effort to make good matches between people and animals and to place pets in lifelong homes, Ruff Riders Rescue provides you with an adoption process that involves an adoption application, reference checks, discussion about the potential adoptive home, an adoption contract, and a visit to your home.

We require a $225.00 adoption fee which includes a microchip, vaccinations and de-worming. We are a non-profit organization and this fee aids with the cost of veterinary care, food, pet supplies, and shelter and boarding fees. In most cases our dogs are already spayed or neutered however, if a dog is being placed unaltered due to age (too young) or a physical condition then we require the adopter to leave a $100 deposit which will be refunded upon presentation of a Certificate of Sterility for the dog.

It Takes a Community
Ruff Riders Rescue knows that no one person or any one organization will end the problem of homeless and abused pets. There is common ground for all of us to work together to protect animal interests and insure a place in our society where animals are respected and valued. With your help we can be more effective and increase the efforts to help homeless and abused animals in our communities.
