The Lompoc Animal Shelter is a county facility devoted to animals in need in the Lompoc, Buellton, Solvang and Santa Ynez areas. Our dogs, cats and other animals can be adopted through the shelter located at 1501 West Central Avenue in Lompoc. C.A.P.A., Companion Animal Placement Assistance is a volunteer group that works with the shelter on behalf of all animals.
Adopting a Friend
For all animals, adoptions are processed through the shelter where prospective adopting families can visit with the dog or cat of their choice before deciding to adopt. Shelter staff and volunteers make every effort to answer all questions and address any special needs the animal may have in order to match the right animal with the right adopter. An application must be filled out and if the adopting family rents their home, we must check with the owner of the property to make sure the animal is allowed. Adoption fees are $100.00 for dogs and $65.00 for cats. For the bunnnies, adopting families are counseled by a volunteer. We make sure that a rabbit is the right pet for you. We help you to select a rabbit that will fit into your home and life style. All animals are spayed or neutered before going home with their new family, given vaccinations and dogs are licensed for one year.
