We will be swimming in kitties soon as it is "kitten season." We DESPERATELY need foster homes as it does not end well for many when we run out of kennel space. Please call Mary Stage at 499.5190 or fill out the Foster Application (link above) and then email it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Remember, proceeds benefit the shelter animals and community spay/neuter progams.

ATTENTION HIKERS AND SLEDDERS! Ringo is a Malmute/Shepherd mix. He is about 110 pounds so no seniors please! He is still young at 2 years old, already neutered and microchipped, good with kids, ok with other dogs, but NO farm animal or cats please. He will need ALOT of exercise and a SOLID fence when at home. He is very strong and knows he can flatten a wooden fence just by leaning on it. Too funny unless you were his former owner.
Come on down to the shelter, pick out your new best friend, and fill out an adoption application. The adoption fee covers the spay or neuter, current vaccines including rabies, a city license (if applicable), an AVID microchip with lifetime registration, some toys, a new pet DVD, and a small bag of Science Diet.
The shelter schedules the spay/neuter and on the day of surgery does the vaccines and microchip. Then the Animal Control van delivers your new best friend to the vet. The vet does the surgery and rabies vaccine. In the afternoon, YOU pick up your pet at the vet. There is only vet that the shelter uses.
The usual adoption fees (unless we have a "special" going) are:
$88 for male dogs and $99 for female dogs (unless already spayed/neutered);
$49.50 for male cats and $59 for female cats (unless already spayed/neutered).
As most of you know, the IWV Humane Society is the major non-profit organization doing fundraising for the Ridgecrest Animal Shelter, the STOP (Stop Pet OverPopulation), C.A.T. (Cat About Town), and PUP programs, as well as other spay & neuter assistance for the Indian Wells and Searles Valleys communities. The IWVHS is working hard to control animal overpopulation and would appreciate your support. Please make a tax-deductible, secure, online donation with the new DONATE button below. Thanks for your support!

If you want to volunteer at the shelter, you need to be at least 18 and a member of PACT (Police and Community Together). You can get a PACT application (like a job app) at the shelter or at the police department. Please contact Mary Stage, Shelter Supervisor, and PACT .
Please contact mstage@ci.Ridgecrest.ca.us for more information on volunteering.
Meet Tommy, who was serving community service as the shelter's official greeter. He was busted by Animal Control Officer ''Tina'' for jay-walking in Ridgecrest Boulevard. He now lives at a home for wayward Desert Tortoises.
Please bring to the shelter at 411 San Bernardino Blvd. Mary will give you a tax receipt if you ask. Tell your friends!
If you have a dog house that you no longer need or use, please consider donating it to the shelter. We will see that it goes to a pet in the community that is without shelter.

Ridgecrest is the town outside Naval Air Warfare Center at China Lake in the high Mojave Desert. It is about 3 hours N of Los Angeles, about 4 hours S of Mammoth Mountain, 2 hours E of Bakersfield, and 1.5 hours NNE of Lancaster/Edwards Air Force Base.
