Welcome to AAARF!

Check out our Adoptable Animals!

AAARF's mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome homeless animals and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship. AAARF works closely with our potential adopters to minimize returns and stress on the animals. In the rare case it is not a perfect match, we offer our adopters an unconditional Bring-Back policy.

AAARF Adoption Fees Include: all animals that come to AAARF for adoption are microchipped with HomeAgain microchips, spayed or neutered, have been given age-appropriate vaccines, de-wormed, and are flea-free. All AAARF animals have been examined by a licensed Veterinarian. Dogs are tested for heartworm disease and are confirmed negative prior to adoption. Cats are tested for FeLV/FIV and are confirmed negative prior to adoption. All adopters are given a free Veterinary exam voucher to use at a participating Vet of their choice.

AAARF's History: AAARF was started in 1997 by three women brought together by their love and compassion for homeless pets and has since taken in and placed over 7,600 animals! With a generous donation from the estate of Isabelle Torsak, AAARF was able to move into our current adoption center at 11940 Masters Ct. Auburn, CA. AAARF is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers and Foster parents. It is because of our volunteers that we are able to continue to take in cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, bunnies, chinchillas, birds, even goldfish and find them loving and safe forever homes.

Who is AAARF?

  • Cassandra Reeves: Treasurer and Co-Founder
  • Nancy Wetherow: Secretary
  • Kristine Martin: Shelter Manager
  • AAARF is lucky to have over 35 volunteers and around 40 foster families who help make a difference in over 500 homeless pets' lives each year! We love you and we couldn't do it without you!

Surrendering an Animal: If you have an animal you need to surrender, please email us at info@aaarfrescue.org or call our voicemail number at (530) 887-5577. Please do not bring animals into the adoption center. Volunteers at the adoption center are not authorized to take in animals. If you have found a stray cat or dog, please take the animal to Placer County Animal Services. While we cannot help everyone, we will try our best to return as many calls as possible in a timely manner and provide as much resource material as we can.
