Thinking of Adopting? Don't forget to consider less adoptable pets....they will thank you forever!
Please meet Chiquita!
This sweet, petite 6-month-old girl was recently rescued from a local shelter, where she was brought in very sick and terribly neglected.
How long she was in this condition nobody knows.
Chiquita is severely underweight; she was less than 4 pounds and you could feel every single bone in her body.
Since being under our care she gained over a pound (she is currently 5lb 2oz)!
She also had a painful eye condition called "entropion". Her lower eyelashes were growing inside her eye and are poking her eye constantly.
You would think that after having been abandoned and mistreated Chiquita would want nothing to do with people; but you should meet Chiquita!
This quiet little girl loves being petted and she is very grateful that her life has turned for the best now.
Recently we were able to raise the money for the critical eye surgery to free her from constant pain!
THANK YOU to private donors and
Pet Awareness and Welfare Society for San Jose Animal Care and Services (http://www.paws4sajcs.org) for providing funding for Chiquita's surgery!!!.
This petite girl is great with other cats, and she doesn't mind well-behaved dogs!
Chiquita would do best in a quiet home without small children. She is a very low key, mellow, and a little shy.
She did test positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which means that she has to be a strictly indoor cat!
She can live with other cats as long as they are very friendly and mellow toward other cats.
FIV positive cats can live for a very long time and it is not very easily transmitted to other cats.
