Who We Are

Shasta County Animal Shelter has been in existence at the same location for over 55 years. We have provided all Animal Care and Shelter Services for the unincorporated area of Shasta County, Redding,California. We were a small shelter dedicated to the placement of select individuals into loving, responsible homes.

However, there are new changes on the immediate horizon. Shasta County Animal Shelter will be closing it's doors permanantly beginning January 1st, 2013. The County has contracted all sheltering and licensing services with the local humane society. So, beginning January 1st, 2013- ALL stray and owner unwanted animals from the unincorporated area of Shasta County will be housed with Haven Humane Society located on Eastside rd., Redding. Haven Humane will also be responsible for selling Shasta County animal licenses for 2013, as well. If you are missing an animal please call or go in to Haven Humane Society. If you should have any questions on dog licensing in the unincorporated area of Shasta County for 2013, please call them at phone number (530) 241- 1653. Although Shasta County Animal Regulation is no longer providing shelter or licensing services, we will continue to provide Enforcement and Regulation services for the unincorporated area of Shasta County. Our ofice is closed to the public and will NOT be manned. We can be reached at (530) 245-6065 for enforcement services only and for Emergency/ After-hour situations that are EMERGENCIES ONLY, please contact ShasCom Dispatch Agency @ 245-6540. If you have an Enforcement or Animal Service complaints for the unincorporated areas of Shasta County, please continue calling Shasta County Animal Regulation at (530)245-6065 for service.

Spay and Neuter

PREVENT LITTERING! SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET TODAY!!!! WHILE THEY LAST, our spay/neuter vouchers for dogs good for $40 off and cat vouchers good for $20 off redeemable at our local veterinarians, can be obtained at Haven Humane Society! These vouchers will still be limited to residents within our jurisdiction of the unincorporated area of the Shasta County. Dogs must be currently licensed and cat vouchers are limited to currently rabies vaccinated,domestic cat. Please call Haven Humane Society at 530-241-1653 or visit them for the details. For our citizens residing in the Intermountain areas, YOU are eligible for additional spay & neuter assistance funds from Spay Neuter Intermountain Pets and Placement Program (SNIPPP) . Please contact SNIPPP at (530) 336-6006 for details and eligibility information.

Adopting a Friend

We want to thank everyone who helped us through the years. We especially thank all our adoptees who provided the wonderful homes and gave our animals a second chance at LIFE!!! OUR HATS OFF TO ALL THE RESCUE ASSOCIATIONS THAT HELPED US KEEP OUR EUTHANASIA RATE TO AN EXTREME LOW, WITHOUT YOU WE WOULD NEVER HAVE REACHED OUR HIGH PLACEMENT RATES. MOST OF ALL WE THANK THE HARD WORK , DEDICATION, AND EXTREME EFFORTS OF OUR VOLUNTEERS- ESPECIALLY JENN BULMER AND CINDY LUZIETTI- THEY NEVER GAVE UP!!! SHASTA COUNTY ANIMAL REGULATION
