Shasta County Animal Shelter has been in existence at the same location for over 50 years. We provide all Animal Care and Shelter Services for the unincorporated area of Shasta County, Redding,California. We are a small shelter dedicated to the placement of select individuals into loving, responsible homes.
Hooray! We are back to our old hours.Visit us today! The office will be open 10AM to 1PM, closed for lunch @1 - 2PM, reopen 2 to 6:45PM and the shelter hours will be 10AM to 12:30PM, closed for lunch,reopen 2 to 6:30 PM. We have many pets to choose from, all the colors of the rainbow and all different ages. We have numerous cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies to choose from. PLEASE come adopt your pet today!!! A spay/ neuter voucher and free veterinarian health exam is included with each adoption to help defray costs.

PREVENT LITTERING! SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET TODAY!!!! FEBRUARY - Spay & Neuter Month is coming, our vouchers are still here!!!! If you live in our jurisdiction please come in for a voucher to assist in altering your pet. We are offering spay/neuter vouchers for dogs good for $40 off and cat vouchers good for $20 off redeemable at our local veterinarians! Vouchers are limited to residents within our jurisdiction of the unincorporated area of the Shasta County. Dogs must be currently licensed and cat vouchers are limited to currently rabies vaccinated,domestic cats; two per household. Please call or come in for the details.
Help us continue working to reduce our stray animal populations within our county. Do you know that 18 years ago we had over 4,500 dogs come through our shelter in one year? TODAY we have reduced that population DOWN to 1,057 . What a difference, a POSITIVE difference! Please continue spaying and neutering throughout the remainder of the year, not just in the springtime. Don't wait, NOW is the time to get your pets altered. Let's break the chain and stop "Littering" now!!!

While they last, we have vouchers dedicated to residents in our jurisdiction who are income qualified and need assistance. Spay now to avoid littering!!!

Adopting a Friend
We need your help in celebrating "FEBRUARY, SPAY AND NEUTER MONTH"!!! During February, please help us continue reducing excess shelter pet population. Get your pet altered before "The Season" begins and enjoy further discounts at our local veterinarian's office.Won't you help?
In additon adopt your "Friend for Life" simply come to our shelter and browse. We have a varied selection of exceptional purebred and mixed breed individuals that are begging for attention and a loving home. Our selection varies daily, so if you don't see that special individual who tugs at your heart, not to worry, we can place you on our Desired List for Future Notification.
After selecting your "Friend", there is a $20 shelter fee, a vaccination fee of $5 each, and if the animal is unaltered, you make arrangements at a local Vet for it to be altered. We have spay/neuter certificates for those animals adopted through our shelter, applicable at participating veterinarians. We will deliver the animal with spay/neuter voucher to your chosen Vet, you pay balance, and pick up the animal directly from the Vet after altering. We are located at 2690 Radio Lane, Redding. In Redding, from Interstate 5 (I-5), take exit #675, head west on South Bonnyview Road approximately 1.5 miles, turn North (Right) onto East Bonnyview Road and go approximately 1 mile, we are located on the north side of the sweeping curve where the road becomes Radio Lane.
Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM - 12:45 PM, Closed for lunch from 1 - 2PM, reopen @ 2-6:45PM. The shelter closes one-half hour sooner; 10 -12:30, Closed for lunch; reopen from 2 - 6:30PM. We are not open on weekends or holidays, sorry for the inconvenience.
