FREE PET HEALTH INSURANCE WITH ANIMALS ADOPTED
FROM THE SEQUOIA HUMANE SOCIETY
Beginning October 2, 2002 people adopting a pet from the Sequoia Humane Society will receive a special gift: one month of free PetCare Pet Insurance for their new family members. This program is offered in conjunction with the ASPCA, Petfinder.com, and ShelterCare. Designed exclusively for adopted cats and dogs, this new Pet Insurance Program is available exclusively through member-shelters such as the Sequoia Humane Society. “There are absolutely no strings attached to this benefit,” said SHS. The 1 month of ShelterCare Pet Insurance is pre-paid by Petfinder.com. The coverage automatically ends after 30 days unless the adopter chooses to extend it. The SHS maintains high standards to assure that the animals they offer for adoption are healthy. Nevertheless, the animals may be exposed to illnesses that don’t reveal themselves until sometime after the animal has been adopted. With the free ShelterCare Coverage now being provided by the Sequoia Humane Society, adoptive parents can rest easy because unexpected accidents and common illnesses that may arise are covered. Coverage includes up to $500 per incident (after a $50 deductible) for kennel cough, intestinal parasites, urinary tract infection, upper respiratory tract infection, ear infections, Sarcoptic and Demodectic mange, Parvovirus, foreign body ingestion removal, motor vehicle accident, fractures and poison ingestion.
Who We Are
The Sequoia Humane Society is a private non-profit organization dedicated to: Providing shelter and humane care to homeless animals while working vigorously to end the tragedy of euthanasia caused by too many animals not enough homes.
Our goals are to: 1. End the overpopulation of cats and dogs, 2. Keep animals with homes from becoming homeless, 3. Find homes for all adoptable animals.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process involves completing an application form and meeting with an adoption counselor who can help potential adopters find the right animal for their situation and clarify the responsibilities of pet ownership.
Our adoption fee is $95 for a dog or cat. This includes the spay/neuter fee, first vaccinations, microchip, FELV/FIV (cat) & Heartworm/Lymes (dog) test, and all other care the animal has received.

We are located just east of US HWY 101 at the King Salmon exit a few miles south of Eureka, California. Our Pet Adoption Center is open for adoptions from Noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Visit our website www.sequoiahumane.org for a sampling of animals currently available for adoption.
We are partially funded by proceeds of our Tailwaggers Thrift Shop. The volunteer-run shop is located at 2904 F Street in Eureka. All proceeds from the sale of gently used merchandise are used to support our work on behalf of the homeless and abused animals of Humboldt County.
