Upcoming Events

Spring is here! Our pets are just as interested as we are in getting out and about. For there safety, check your fences and gates for holes and breaks that could help them to escape your yards. Do NOT leave your pets in locked closed vehicles as it is warming up again. Your vehicle can be u to 30 degrees hotter than it is outside. Your dogs will be more relaxed if you walk them regularly. Keep your cats indoors as dangers still lurk outdoors for them. Wild animals, yes even in town, other animals as well as cat hating people are still out there. Other cats that fight alot may pass diseases that are terminal to your cat if allowed outdoors.

Our adoption program will be closed for easter weekend so our volunteers can be with their families. We will be back the following weekend April 15th and 16th from 12 to 4pm. Have a happy easter!

Donations

Donations of your time and love, blankets, dog and cat beds and houses, dog and cat food, litter, toys, wire and plastic crates, or chain link kennels, will be accepted in our adoption center on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm at the Concord Petco or you may call 825-216-9927 to scedule a pickup for larger items only. Please stop by and ask us what you can do to help a homeless pet in need! Open your home to a homeless pet by fostering. You'll be rewarded in at least two ways. There love and appreciation for saving their life, and the satisfaction you will feel when they are adopted, knowing they will have a new, safe and loving home! Who We Are

Since 1958, the CONTRA COSTA S.P.C.A. has been rescuing homeless, neglected and abused animals in Contra Costa County. Through the warmth and caring love of our foster homes and your donations, we have been able to medically treat, rehabilitate and place hundreds of wonderful pets into loving homes each year. Currently, we are a foster home based rescue organization for pets. The overflow Shelter/Thrift store we had was expensive, so we decided to focus our time and money directly on our animals. We are in NEED of GOOD FOSTER HOMES with people willing to take one or more animals home during the week and return them on the weekends from noon to 4:00 pm to our adoption center for adoption. Fostering a pet is a great experience and there are few things as rewarding as seeing one of your own foster animals find a permanent home with a good family. Even if you can't foster, there are many ways that you can help such as walking the dogs, cleaning cages at the adoption center, writing newsletters, fundraising, etc. Please stop by our adoption center to see how it all works and how you can help!

Adopting a friend

When you come to meet our animals, (primarily dogs and cats) we will give you any background information we have about the dog or cat. If you are interested in adopting, we will let you hold the cat or walk the dog around. Prior to an adoption, we do interview you and your family to ensure a good match for the pet as well as for you. If during a two week adjustment period, It doesn't look as though it's working out, we will take the animal back and refund your adoption donation upon request. After the 2 week adjustment period, we will still take the animal back but will keep your donation. Upon successful completion of the interview, there is an adoption contract and an adoption donation, which includes the pet's medical treatments, if any, neuter/spay and any of the necessary shots the animal has received to date. Obedience Training will be required with all puppies/dogs adopted. When you adopt the animal you get a free vet check up to insure your pet's health. Hopefully you will find a wonderful animal that you will keep for life.

Come Visit Us!

Visit us at Petco next to the Trader Joe's on Concord Avenue in Concord. We are there every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM except major holidays. While Petco may be open, we will be closed on Easter Sunday so our families may celebrate Easter with their Families!!
