Mission Statement
Guided by our belief that humankind has a responsibility to respect other forms of life in this world, the mission of NCHS is to promote a humane and sustainable environment for all animals, including humans; to protect animals from neglect, abuse and exploitation; to advocate for their interest and welfare; and to educate the public in responsible and compassionate stewardship.
Adopting a friend
At the North County Humane Society we try to make adopting a new pet as easy as possible. There are three simple steps to finding your new friend:
Come down to the shelter and feel free to walk around the complex. We have three buildings that hold over 50 dogs. Each building is two sided, so be sure to look at all of our dogs! Make sure that you take note of the kennel or cage number of the animal you are interested so that the front office staff can assist you more efficiently.
If you are looking to adopt a cat, they are housed in the cattery which is in building "C" towards the back of the complex.
If you are looking to adopt a rabbit, or other animals, they can be found in the Barnyard area, located in the northwest corner of the complex. Again, make sure to note the kennel or cage number of the animal you are interested in!
If you find an animal you are interested in, please return to the front office with the Kennel Number where the animal is housed. We will ask you to fill out an adoption questionnaire prior to interacting with the animal in one of our play yards. At this time, we can also answer any questions you may have about the particular animal and provide any background information if available.
We will review your application, and based on our evaluation, we will proceed with the application.
