Oscar is a 2 year old Sheltie-Chow mix. He's a big love bug but initially is shy and conservative around new faces. He'd excel in a home that wants to shower him with lots of attention once he's acclimated to the home. But is willing to give him those first few days to a week to get use to new surroundings.
Oscar gets along well with non-dominant female dogs. He has another Chow friend who is his size that he plays with all the time and loves her. He's met a few boys who turned him off so we've left him with his newest girlfriend to hang out with at home. Oscar walks well on a leash and likes to go in the car. Oscar is an excellent option to be an only dog. So if you want a dog who will be your one and only and you're concerned that he might need a friend, he's perfectly content to just be loved by you. Great if you have a non-dominant female dog but if not and you just want one dog, he's yours!
Oscar would be fine with dog savvy kids who are over the age of 12. He's not a little kids dog in that he does not like to be pulled on around his big Lion-like mane and kids would tend to grab him or pull him and that is disconcerting to him. Oscar also loves to run and jump on you at full speed. We're working on that, usually when we get back up after being knocked over and having him lick our face! But kids would definitely need to be "knock over proof!"Oscar is a little too intense for the kitties. So he's a no-cat zone. Oscar loves to sleep on his big bed on the floor or on that big bed with you! He's a great dog who is med. compact size.

What Does It Take To Be
A Foster Home?
We work with
varying schedules so if you have a willing spirit and want to help, we will make
it work!
Our Wish List
We always need crates, kennels, and
exercise pens. We always need doggie beds, and when it's colder, we need
sweaters for some of out smaller critters. Do you know someone who sews or
knits? The sweaters, or overcoats, need to be warm...but don't have to be
intricate in design, or fancy. We appreciate any type of gift certificate, or
card, from Target, Walmart, or Petco (Of course...where the pets go!!!)
