JASPER

Jasper is a black and white dachshund mix. Some people have referred to him as "Blue Dog" because he has similar features to "Blue Dog" painted by George Rodrigue. Jasper is quiet in the house and is a good walker. He is partially deaf so it is not recommended he be in a home with children since he can be startled easily. He seems to enjoy being outside and sometimes chases squirrels. Apparently, he was an outdoor door dog at his former home because he wasn’t very responsive to us the first couple of weeks we had him and wouldn't come inside the house on his own. Jasper he spends most of the day in the yard because of our work schedule. Now he greets us by prancing and racing around the yard when we come home. He sleeps quietly through the night in a crate inside. Jaspers is approximately 10 years old – an adult home with a fenced yard and a cozy dog house outside, comfy crate inside to sleep in at night, regular walks and lots of petting and massages would be a great home for Jasper. For more information on Jasper, please contact Barbara at 925-788-3181.

PLEASE NOTE: Click on the name of the animal on our pet list to see a larger picture and detailed description with the name of the foster parent to contact directly. Dogs and cats are often adopted soon after posting. Although our volunteers make every effort to keep the list as current as possible, the animal you are interested in may have already found a new home by the time you visit our site. TVAR NEEDS FOSTER HOMES (CALIFORNIA BAY AREA)
Dogs in shelters are in need throughout the entire year. Kitten season has begun with hundreds of newborn kittens expected to come into the shelter within a few short months. The number of animals in shelters that can be rescued by TVAR is limited mainly by the number of foster homes that are available to care for these animals on a short-term basis
Please consider opening your heart to a homeless dog, cat, kitten or puppy that deserves a chance to find a permanent home. When the shelter is full we need to place animals in temporary foster homes until they can either be adopted or moved to a long-term foster when an opening is available. Tri Valley Animal Rescue will supply the food and supplies and provide for the medical treatment while you are fostering a rescue pet. You can decide what breed or size that you would like to help with, there will always be a wide selection of animals available. Some of our dog fosters prefer larger breeds, some prefer females, others might want an older more mellow dog, perhaps a toy breed or one that needs to get along with cats. Many of the cat fosters prefer kittens, some specialize in bottle babies (orphans without a mom cat), others would rather take an adult or special needs cat. We want to make it a pleasant experience for anyone who is willing to share their time as a foster parent.

Who We Are

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting the East County Animal Shelter in Dublin to help owners locate their missing pets and to assist people selecting a pet to adopt. Tri-Valley Animal Rescue also places animals from ECAS and other area shelters in foster care in the homes of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them in permanent homes.

Adopting a Friend

TVAR's adoption efforts focus on making the right match between pets and owners. Dogs and cats coming from animal shelters are initially evaluated for their temperament. Depending on their sociability, TVAR will pull them from the shelter, vaccinate, spayed or neutered if necessary and put them into a foster home. The foster home then evaluates the animal's habits and lifestyle needs and helps to integrate them into a schedule. Once a routine is established and the animal's personality is observed, information is posted on TVAR's website: www.tvar.org. TVAR pets available for adoption can be seen on the website and at Saturday's adoption days.

Once the right pet is agreed upon with all the members of your household, you will be required to complete adoption paperwork and submit an adoption donation to help cover medical costs for the animal (vaccinating, spaying/neutering, worming, etc,). The suggested donation is $150 for dogs or $75 for cats, however, our medical costs are often overwhelming, and any additional donation into our medical fund is appreciated. Your donation is tax-deductible. TVAR's tax ID number is printed on the adoption contract and on our Lifeline newsletter.

The minimum requirements for pet adoption include: - Minimum of 18 years of age - Legal ID with proof of current address - Verification of home ownership or letter from landlord permitting pets if renting - Understanding of obedience training or intent to enroll in obedience classes - Approval from all household members on the pet being adopted
