ABANDONED DUFFY & WALTER SEARCHING FOR FAMILIES TO LOVE.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE ADOPTED TOGETHER... . Scroll down to watch a live mini video of Duffy & Walter playing after you read about them

DUFFY & WALTER WERE RESCUED FROM A SHELTER, WHERE THEIR TIME HAD COME TO AN END.

Duffy was rescued form a high kill shelter on the day his time had run out. He is around 6 months old up on shots, neutered, weight around 39 pounds of love waiting to be adopted. Duffy is an American Bull Terrier Hound who loves to play, is house trained to my home, knows how to use the large doggy door, is very smart, did not get car sick in my car, he had over a hour ride too. Does well around the other 9 dogs here as you can see in the video, he may be a good companion to take to work, if you're allowed. He does still pull on the leash so may like to go to obedience school or more outings to learn how to walk a little nicer on leash. I do not have any cats, so do not know how Duffy would do around kitty cats.

I always think it's good to take your puppy or dog to obedience school to learn how to be a well mannered family member..

Please email me as much information about what kind of home and family life a puppy or dog would have if adopted by you.

Every year, between 8 and 10 million dogs and cats enter U.S. shelters; some 4 to 5 million of these animals are euthanized (killed with no pain) because there are not enough homes for them.

Below are statistics for the Nevada County Animal Shelter provided by Lt. Ron Earles, current head of Nevada County Animal Control:

Statistical Information

Year Redemption Adoption Euthanized
1998 11% 20% 68%
1999 16% 27% 57%
2000 16% 43% 41%
2001 15% 44% 38%
2002 14% 65% 21%
2003 16% 67% 17%
2004 18% 75% 7%
2005 18% 78% 4%
2006 18% 79% 2%

2001 handled 1,028 dogs and 620 cats. Total 1,658
2002 handled 973 dogs and 880 cats. Total 1,853

2005 handled 886 dogs and 794 cats. Total 1,680
2006 handled 770 dogs and 657 cats. Total 1,427

The euthanized number for 2007 was the same as 2006. Please help us get the euthanized number even lower for 2009 by adopting or fostering animals from shelters.

Who We Are

Newdawn Dog Rescue is a non-profit group dedicated to keeping healthy, adoptable dogs, puppies and cats alive, safe and filled with our love until a loving home is found. We help the volunteers at the Nevada County Animal Control shelter rescue dogs, puppies and cats from crisis situations, including euthanasia by the shelter, neglect and other forms of abuse. We then try to find the right family that will match each animal's personality.

On our pet list you will see fostered animals and animals at the Nevada County shelter. The Nevada County shelter is located at 14647 McCourtney Rd., Grass Valley, CA, 95949. Their phone number is 530-273-2179

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR HELP FOSTERING THESE ANIMALS,

If you would like to help, please contact Dawn at NEWDAWN DOG RESCUE

Adopting a friend

There will be a adoption donation fee for the fostered rescued animals of at least $60.00 or more, to help rescue, provide medical care, spay and neuter, board and place other abandoned animals. Please Understand that any donation or contribution is a gift freely given, not as a purchase price for an animal.

NEWDAWN DOG RESCUE is a private non-profit organization not affiliated with the Nevada County Ca. Animal Shelter or any other agency, organization or individual(s). Since we do not do temperament screening, we do not warrant the temperament of any of the animals listed on this site. The adopting party releases NewDawn dog rescue from any and all liability arising out of or in any way connected with the adoption of a pet listed on the NewDawn Dog Rescue Petfinder.com Website. However, all Sheltered Animals are held out by the Nevada County Animal shelter as available for adoption to the public
