ROTTWEILER RESCUE OF LOS ANGELES, INC.

Our Pet List

Who We Are

Rottweiler Rescue of Los Angeles is a non-profit organization dedicated to find loving, life-time homes for our rottweilers. All rottweilers available for adoption have been altered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. We home-foster our rottweilers to ensure that they are sound, gentle, good-natured pets. We work on housebreaking and some basic obedience skills. And, they come with a lifetime guarantee, if at any time, for any reason, an adoption does not work out, you may bring the animal back.

If you're interested in adopting one of our dogs please read our adoption policy and then fill in our online adoption application form. Before coming out to visit the dogs, please be sure you have thoroughly read getting started and our training tips section and our our great books section. There is also valuable information on our health page, particularly the section on pet foods.

We would like to enthusiastically thank our growing network of foster families. Their invaluable help and tireless dedication are the backbone of our rescue efforts enabling us to save even more dogs. If you think you might like to join us by fostering a rescue rott, please fill in our online foster home application.

Adopting a Rottweiler

We are always delighted to hear from people interested in giving one of these wonderful rottweilers a responsible, lifelong home. All family members are requested to visit our dogs available for adoption. Please allow at least an hour for your visit although you are welcome to stay longer. This helps to ensure the best possible match of dog and family. Please remember that rottweilers become deeply attached and devoted to their family. They were bred to share in all aspects of their family's daily life - being with you in your home and going with you when you go out. They thrive on being near you, a head or paw in your lap. If you feel you may not truly enjoy having a dog's constant companionship, enjoy having him sleep in your bedroom at night and share many of your activities by day, then you may be happier with a breed less oriented to human companionship.

We also prefer that our dogs go to homes with securely fenced yards. Whether you live in the city or in the country, no dog can safely be left to run 'free' without your direct supervision and control. The price of such 'freedom' is inevitably injury or death: from automobiles, from the Animal Shelter or from justifiably irate neighbors. Like other working breeds, rottweilers have an inherited instinct to herd. The unfenced country rottweiler will sooner or later discover the neighbor's livestock (sheep, cattle, horses, poultry). State law gives the livestock owner the legal right to kill any dog chasing or 'worrying' his stock on his property. And livestock owners are quick to act on this right. The unfenced city rottweiler may exercise his herding instinct on joggers, bicyclists, and automobiles. An unfenced rottweiler is always destined for disaster.

We have a minimal adoption fee. This fee offsets some of the costs associated with spaying and neutering; heartworm testing and preventative; basic vaccines and parasite control; and county impound fees where applicable. After adoption we are always available to assist and advise our adoptive families in every way we can. And satisfaction is guaranteed! If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we want the animal back.

If you feel you are interested in adopting one of our rottweilers, we'd love to hear from you. Please fill out and submit our our online adoption application.

Need help placing your rottweiler?

In addition to the rottweilers we have available for adoption, we are also happy to provide a referral service for people who, for one reason or another, are forced to give up their pets. If you're interested in utilizing our referral service we'd be pleased to put your dog's picture and story on our site to help them get the best home possible.
