Who We Are
The Catnip Project began as a resource of information, assistance and referrals for spaying and neutering cats in Butte County, focusing on feral cat colony caretakers' needs. The Project's funds were transferred to its parent organization, The Promotion of Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Butte County, to open the spay/neuter clinic in Oroville. Trapping equipment was donated to Paws of Chico Spay Neuter Program. We still post information on Petfinder about cats needing new homes for those caring for them. We do not personally rescue or shelter cats, but rather help people help themselves with information and guidance.
Adopting a friend
The Catnip Project offers cat rescuers the opportunity to post their spayed or neutered cats needing a home on our Petfinder site, using our adoption criteria. The service is free.
