PAL Humane Society has moved to Wrighwood, CA. When Robert Lowry, a resident of Wrightwood, passed away he left his estate to 3 charities and PAL was named as one of the recipients. We had no record of who this man was as he had never adopted an animal from PAL or, to our knowledge, visited our organization. We were thrilled that Mr. Lowry felt us worthy of sharing his legacy. Part of the donation PAL received is a house in Wrightwood. After spending much time deciding what to do with the house, PAL's Board of Directors decided that Mr. Lowry's legacy and the animals would best be served by making the house our new headquarters.
When PAL was first started by founder Kathi Schlintz, it was with the intent to save animal's lives by promoting spay & neuter and educating the public about responsible pet ownership. Through these programs we could protect animal life. With that in mind, PAL is going back to its roots and has made some big changes:
*We no longer take in animals for adoption as we do not have a shelter in which to house them. We can still offer assistance to people trying to place an animal in a new home by posting a private adoption ad or through referrals to rescue groups.
*We are continuing to help the senior citizens with pet food through our Pet Connection Program and with veterinary costs through the Herdina Grant.
*Our main focus is to promote spay/neuter by providing vouchers to High Desert residents to help with the cost of spay/neuter procedures.
*We will also continue to promote humane treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership through education.
We hope that you will continue to support us in our new endeavors to protect animal life and help reduce the pet overpopulation!
