We are happy to participate and hope to find lots of good homes for our well-deserving dogs and cats that are homeless and in danger of being put down.
Who We Are
Kern County Animal Shelter has four shelters...the largest in Bakersfield and three smaller ones in Mojave, Lake Isabella, and Ridgecrest, CA. We are the animal control agency for most of the County of Kern, and selected cities within the County.
Adopting a friend
Bakersfield and Mojave: Come visit us Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 10 to 4. Wednesdays, we are open from 2 to 7.
Lake Isabella and Ridgecrest Shelters operate independently and you should check with them for their hours and policies.
Your adoption fee will include the spaying or neutering of your dog which will be done before the animal goes home to live with you and also shots when available.
