Pet of the Month
How can we choose? They're all so wonderful!

News
Our cageless sanctuary is located in north Los Angeles County. Over 275 wonderous cats & big dogs call it home.
Who We Are
For every pet cherished in a secure home, one hundred more roam homeless, hungry and frightened until they succumb to malnutrition, disease, speeding vehicles or worse fates. A lucky few are rescued by caring humans who work at what can be a lonesome, stressful job. C.A.R.E. was born in 1992 when a few such people came together to help homeless animals and their human rescuers.
Assistance
The little guys we’ve saved are placed only in the most loving, responsible homes. We never euthanize except to end terminal suffering. We work to enable other rescuers through adoption programs, referral, mentoring and the free loan of equipment.
Referral & Education
We act as an information resource regarding all animals. We provide educational material regarding animals and especially work to promote longer, more loving relationships between people and their pets through improved understanding. We share the knowledge we’ve gained with other rescuers as well as just plain, morale support!
A Rescuer’s Dream---
is to one day open a cageless shelter, where abandoned pets can live, well-fed and well-loved until the right adopter comes along. And now we are living that dream. C.A.R.E. started as a rescue support group with a few kits in 1992. The C.A.R.E. Sanctuary opened its doors in 1998 to rescue the “survivors” - 300+ cats and more than a dozen dogs who were taken by the Dept. Of Animal Services from a local private shelter. There had been more than twice that number, but hundreds had been euthanized before we were able to step in. These little guys had been to hell and back and we'd given them our pledge of safety and freedom from hunger, pain and fear for the rest of their lives. That was 1998 and the mission goes on. It’s a formidable undertaking we’ve embarked on, so we really need all the help we can get.

  • Which you are interested in - cat or dog
  • Do you currently have children and/or any pets and what kind?
  • If you would like to adopt a cat, let us know if you would like one who goes inside and out or is strictly inside, and if you are looking for a cat with claws or declawed.
  • Adoption fees vary but are usually $200.00 for cats/kittens & $250.00 & up for dogs. Prospective adopters must complete an application, be approved & then a date will made for the pet to be delivered to his/her new home.

Selfless beings, come from the bright beyond, to teach us compassion, love, even humility?" .....M Zupan
