Furry Friends Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit Bay Area companion animal rescue organization, comprised entirely of experienced volunteers who collectively have rescued hundreds of companion animals and placed them in loving homes.
United and inspired by our compassion for all animals, we focus our talents on saving unadopted dogs and cats destined to be euthanized in Bay Area shelters. Each rescued animal is provided veterinary attention, including examination, immunizations and spay/neuter. Then the rescued dog or cat is placed into one of our safe haven foster homes where he receives lots of TLC and basic family member training. Most of our dogs and cats are well behaved and are ready for adoption. A few may need special care to recuperate from medical, mental or physical neglect/abuse; or to regain their confidence and trust in people.
We were founded in November 1998. Prior to forming Furry Friends Rescue, the core team of experienced and determined volunteers rescued a combined total of 450 dogs and cats and placed into loving, permanent homes.
Since forming Furry Friends Rescue in November 1998, the group has rescued over 4400 dogs and cats, and has provided assistance to other rescue groups, shelters and owner's dogs and cats, to the tune of 4500 animals!
A key part of Furry Friends Rescues philosophy and practice is to build alliances with other cooperative rescue organizations, shelters, veterinarians, media and caring companies. By working together, we can save more lives and eliminate the unnecessary deaths of so many adoptable animals while enhancing the lives of people as well.
