Family Dog & Puppy Rescue
Come to our mobile adoption events on Saturdays! On sunny days you will find us at the corner of 18th and Castro from 11-3pm! and on rainy days we're we'll be at an alternate location. Please check our facebook page face book.com/ncfdr or our website norcalfamilydogrescue.org for specifics. We have an event almost every Saturday, but its best to check our website or Facebook page for any updates on location or time. We can always use volunteers and foster homes so please contact us if you're interested in doing either!
Who We Are
We are a rescue group comprised of a group of people who have worked within rescue for many years. We are dedicated to saving great family dogs from high-kill shelters throughout California. Coming from the Bay Area we realize that the term family can mean many things, by no means do we restrict our adoptions to people with children or those in so called "traditional" families. Although, many of our dogs come pre-kid tested. Please visit our website! www.norcalfamilydogrescue.org/ and our Facebook page at facebook.com/ncfdr. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Fostering a Dog
We always need foster homes. Many people think they can't foster because they'd never be able to let their foster dog go. But, everytime you help a shy, or scared or injured dog recover and find its new forever home, it means another dog can be saved. Fostering is an act of love and is very rewarding. You can see dogs needing URGENT foster homes on our Facebook page, facebook.com/ncfdr. If you would like to foster, please go to our website, www.norcalfamilydogrescue.org, and fill out an application!
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting a dog, the first step is to go to our website at norcalfamilydogrescue.org and fill out an application. When your application is approved we will arrange a meeting. Our adoption fees range from $250-$350. Our adoptions include a free veterinary visit with a local (San Francisco) veterinarian and a two week trial period. We want the adoption to be a great fit for both the dog and the people. We are always available to help you with any issues that might arise while your new family member is settling in.
We have a small shelter in San Francisco's Mission District, so we always have lots of volunteer opportunities and we can accommodate almost any schedule. Want to walk some dogs? Help is coax shy dogs out of their shell? We also need to feed the dogs and keep the space clean on a daily basis! If you'd like to volunteer, visit our webpage and fill out a volunteer application.
