The primary mission of BACKSTREET CATS is to educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering in an effort to curb pet overpopulation.

PLEASE NOTE: Backstreet Cats does not have a shelter or facility to take in your current pet. We work strictly with feral and street cats. Please visit your local Petco or Petsmart and obtain a copy of THE PET PRESS to get a listing of rescue groups in your area.

All kittens, cats and dogs listed are available by appointment only. Please contact the foster parent listed in the particular listing to arrange for a convenient time to meet the pet.

Potential applicants are carefully screened to be sure that our sweet rescue babies are placed in the perfect forever home where they will spend the rest of their lives being spoiled as they deserve.

A WORD ABOUT DECLAWING CATS
Declawing is actually the de-knuckling and amputation of the fingers and toes of a cat's pad. A declawed cat becomes either extremely shy or unnaturally aggressive since their claws are their primary survival device. They also may stop using the litter box because of the phantom pain. Declawing can cause chronic pain, arthritis, other medical and mental issues and leaves the cat unable to protect themselves in an emergency situation. It is illegal to declaw in most countries and the USDA finally made it illegal to declaw big cats. Sadly, cats instinctively mask pain for survival reasons, but do you really want your feline friend to suffer this fate?
