We have dogs of just about every age, size, personality and activity level imaginable. If you fall in love with our bullies and would like to provide them with a forever home you can fill out our ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION to get the adoption process started!
Our Adoption Fees: Check our website for the most updated adoption fees*
Our adoption fee is considered a "donation". Fresno Bully Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization, so every penny goes right back into the care of the dogs in our shelter & saving more lives. Things like dog food, vet care & shelter improvements are just a few of the things your donation benefits.
Every Adoption Includes:
Veterinary Physical Exam
Spay/Neuter Surgery (Mandatory)
Microchip with Registration
30 Days of Pet Insurance Provided by Shelter Care
Our 2-3 step Adoption process:
Step 1 is to fill out our ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once that is complete, we will contact you within 24-48 hours.
Step 2 is the home check. If your application is approved, then we make an appointment to come by your house and see where your new bully will be living. We will be looking for a safe, secure, happy & healthy environment where a dog will thrive as a part of your family.
Step 3, if your application & home are approved, then, if you have any other animals, we assist with introductions to make sure that they all get along. If all these things go good, that's it!
Please note these mandatory pre-requisits for adoption through our shelter:
1. All pets in your home must be spayed/neutered, unless: There is a valid medical reason for not having the surgery or you own a working dog (Police K9 or Herding Dog) etc.
2. Your adoptive dog must be allowed inside your home. Any applicant looking for an "outside-only" dog will be denied.
Out-of-Area Adoptions: Fresno Bully Rescue will consider out-of-area adoptions as long as your home is within a reasonable driving distance from our shelter. Any serious applicants will be expeted to visit our shelter to meet the dog(s) of interest, and a home inspection will be performed by a local rescue representative or Animal Control officer in your area.
*Must be 18yrs or older to apply for adoption.
Fresno Bully Rescue (FBR) is a volunteer-based, non-profit, no-kill center and sanctuary dedicated to rescuing bully breed dogs (i.e. American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bull Dogs, Bull Terriers, etc.). We are here to provide a healthy and loving temporary home while we look for forever homes for our bullies. We are a 501 (c) (3) public charity and all donations are tax deductible.
Besides rescuing and adopting, FBR is also committed to providing educational services in the community, micro-chipping, and promoting spaying and neutering and responsible ownerships of the bully breeds. In addition, FBR is committed to advocating for the bully breeds by doing educational outreach to the high risk communities about the illegal practice of dog fighting, as well as providing mental & physical rehabilitation and training to our bully residents while in our care. Fresno Bully Rescue is also available to provide guidance and assistance to forever families of our dogs during the transition to their forever home.
Our Mission Statement
FBR's job is to provide a healthy and loving temporary home while we look for forever homes for our bullies. In addition, FBR is committed to promoting responsible ownership of bully breeds, fighting against breed discrimination, spaying and neutering pets, reporting dog fighting, and demonstrating to the community that bully breeds are loyal, loving, and wonderful forever companions.
Why We Are Here
Because of foreclosures in California, an overwhelming amount of dogs are being surrendered to shelters. Bully breeds are the first to be euthanized if no one adopts or rescues them. Since over 1 million “pit bulls” are euthanized in the United States yearly (statistics provided by Best Friends Society, Kanaab, Utah), the service provided by FBR is critical for the Central Valley which has one of the highest rates of euthanization in the whole of California. (statistics provided by CCSPCA).
Since its founding in May 1, 2008, FBR has rescued over 400 dogs. At our shelter, we house over 30 resident dogs at all times. Some rescued from the community, from abusive homes, and county shelters where they were designated to be euthanized. We also have many of our adoptables in foster care.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions, ideas, comments or concerns. Please email or call us if you are interested in adopting one of our bullies, interested in volunteering, making a donation, or sharing feelings and ideas!
