We have several adult cats, ages 1-6 years, that are all looking for their second chance at love. Many were moms from last year, others were owner surrender and most just discarded for one reason or another. Because we have so many adults and kitten season starting, all adults will be available for a special adoption fee. So, please browse our available cats and see if one of them is the perfect pet you've been looking for.
News
On October 14, 2008, a good samaritan rescued 14 abandoned cats off of Bethel Island. She and her husband had been out boating and saw the cats running around. As they got close, the cats were so anxious for human contact, that they jumped into their boat. She went back with carriers and rounded everyone up. They were then brought into Contra Costa Animal Services and no one stepped forward to claim them. After 10 days, they all came down with kitty colds and had to get out. Safe Cat Foundation stepped in along with Dan & Dave's Country Inn and took them into foster care where they are all getting healthy. They have been named after the characters from the show "Lost" and as they get spayed/neutered, they will start to appear on our adoptable list. The first six have already been adopted! The remaining cats are looking to complete their story with a forever home and a happy ending.
Who We Are
Safe Cat Foundation, a California based non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation, was formed to address the safety issues of domestic cats in our local animal shelters and in our society. We provide education and advocacy for various health and safety issues that affect cats in the home, wild or shelter. Safe Cat Foundation also provides rescue for cats abandoned in the wild or at the shelter through fostering, providing medical care, spay and neuter services and adoption programs.
