Santa Monica Animal Control is a full-service animal care and control agency serving the City of Santa Monica. Our shelter houses both stray and owner-surrendered animals from the community, which can include dogs, cats, rabbits, and an occasional bird or reptile.
Adopting a friend
Prospective adopters may visit with any available animal they are considering adopting. Staff will assist with the adoption process and will help seek compatibility between pet and adopter.

The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is open seven days a week (except on Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving). Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Sundays from 12 noon to 5 p.m. To reach the shelter, approach westbound on Olympic Boulevard (a one-way street). Turn right at 9th Street (one block before Lincoln Blvd.). The Shelter is at the end of a cul-de-sac.
