Y.A.P.S. stands for "Yucaipa Animal Placement Society", a temporary shelter for cats and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. Here at Y.A.P.S. we provide our animals a safe and loving environment until a suitable adoptive "forever home" can be found. We see to it that every pet is spayed or neutered, healthy and up to date on all their vaccinations before they are adopted.
Yucaipa Animal Placement Society is a limited intake private shelter; we are unable to take stray animals.
Space must be available. We are a no kill shelter. At Y.A.P.S. we value the life of every animal that walks through our gates. While we hope the amount of time that any animal must spend with us is short, we believe it is our personal mission to ensure that they receive quality, loving and meaningful care during their stay. For this reason, we must limit the number of animals at our shelter.
Adoption Process
Adopting a Cat, Kitten, Dog or Puppy means you are bringing home a new member of your family. Unconditional love, devotion, loyalty, and companionship are just some of the blessings that you will receive when you bring home this new family member.
When you adopt a pet from Y.A.P.S., every animal is spayed or neutered, healthy and up to date on all their vaccinations before you take them home. You will receive the total devotion and love from a pet who only asks for responsible care in return, something you can't put a price tag on!
Because we care about the future of the animals that are adopted though Y.A.P.S., we want to be sure that the match is a good match, for you and your family, as well as the animal. This is why you should plan to spend some time at Y.A.P.S. with the pet you have chosen to adopt.

How Adoption Works
- Plan to bring the entire family. Every person who will be living in the home with the animal should come and spend time to ensure everyone is compatible.
- If there are other pets in your home you should bring them along as well. We require this so we are assured everyone gets along.
- If you rent your home, a letter from your landlord will be required to prove they allow pets.
Other Considerations
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Does anyone at home have allergies to cats or dogs?
- Is there adequate space in the yard for your pet?
- If your pet will be kept outside, is there adequate shelter for them?
- Is your yard fenced in?
After you and Y.A.P.S. are satisfied, you will complete the adoption application. If this process seems difficult we don't intend it to be, but this adoption is forever and we want to be sure it is right for both you and your new pet.
When you adopt a pet from Y.A.P.S., your new pet receives:
