Bongo is a large gorgeous English Foxhound with a beautiful bay! He's eager to please and has already learned how to sit, shake and give kisses. He is 2-3 years old, neutered, vaccinated and crate trained. Don't let this wonderful boy pass you by if you're interested, as English Foxhounds are not commonly found in California.

Dexter's Rescue Remedy is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is volunteer operated and relies solely on tax deductible donations to meet the dogs' and wolfdogs' needs. We always appreciate and need donations of XX-Large dog crates, beds, dog food, blankets, collars, leashes, etc., as well as monetary.
Who We Are
Dexter's Rescue Remedy is a non-profit dog and wolfdog rescue located in Northern California. Our rescue is named after the first hound rescued by our group. He was a large male Basset Hound named "Dexter" that was saved from a lonely existence in a backyard in Los Banos. He was full of fleas and ticks, lethargic, anemic, filthy and emaciated. His toenails were so long that his dewclaws had grown into his dewclaw pads by 1/2" and were infected. He also had a lump at the base of his tail the size of a golf ball that his owner said she had never noticed. It took a few months, but we got Dexter all fixed up and finally found the perfect home for him. Dexter was treated like a king by his new family, taking nightly walks in the neighborhood and walks on the beach every weekend. He had such a special way about him that people were drawn to him and would stop to pet and talk about this exceptional boy. He loved attention and would groan while looking up adoringly at the person doling out the attention. Dexter's life was cut short by cancer at 9 years old. But, his two years with his new family were wonderful and probably the best he's ever known. Everyone will miss Dexter very much, but his legacy lives on in our rescue efforts every day.
We rescue and rehome scent hounds such as Basset Hounds, Beagles, Bloodhounds, Plott Hounds, Black and Tan Coonhounds, Bluetick Coonhounds, as well as Wolfdogs and occasionally St. Bernards, Great Danes and Mastiffs. We also rescue a few other extra large breeds. Our rescue dogs usually come from high kill shelters and, occassionally, owner surrenders as space permits. All of our rescued dogs and wolfdogs live in a home environment with other dogs and are not confined to dog runs.

Please contact our rescue by phone or email to inquire about a dog and get an application. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Home checks are required to assure that your new friend will not end up in harms way and will be with you for a very long time.
We always have new dogs coming into our rescue. So, if you don't see the type of dog you are looking for, please check for availability either by phone or email.
Come Visit Us!
Dexter's Rescue Remedy will be at Petsmart Friday, Saturday & Sunday Nov. 13, 14 & 15 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm for the Petsmart Charities Adoption Event. We will also be at Farmers Feed Supply in Grants Pass, Or on Saturday, Nov. 21st from 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Petsmart is located at 3279 Crater Lake Highway in Medford, Oregon. We will have an outstanding lineup of dogs at each event! So, come early and don't miss this opportunity to meet some of the awesome dogs we have available for adoption! If you're interested in a particular dog, please contact us in advance and ask that we bring that particular dog for you to meet.
