Sadie is a wonderfully sweet girl! She was very timid, nervous and shy when she arrived. She wasn't even comfortable being hugged or kissed. She would tense up and try to run from anyone who tried to give her love. With lots of love and reassurance, she's learned to love, trust and be loved. And she enjoys it. What a transformation! Sadie is a 3-4 yr. old Treeing Walker Coonhound, English Coonhound, Greyhound mix who's calm, gentle, loving and such a good girl. She has the biggest most soulful eyes.
The founder of Dexter's Rescue Remedy was in a bad rollover accident on I-5 after hitting black ice and the rescue's transport vehicle was totaled. So, we are in desparate need of a van or similar vehicle to transport dogs from high-kill shelters and to adoption events. Please contact us by phone at 530-496-3276 or by email at email@example.com. If you or anyone you know would like to donate a vehicle or sell one for a low price. Please help us help the dogs. Dexter's Rescue Remedy is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is volunteer operated and relies solely on tax deductible donations to meet the dogs' and wolfdogs' needs. We always appreciate and need donations of dog food. Do you have opened bags of dog food or canned food that you no longer need? Well, we would love to have those bags or cans of food! Our rescue dogs aren't picky ....... they just LOVE to eat. We are also in need of meat, towels, blankets, collars, treats, toys, etc., as well as monetary. The dogs don't taste when meat is freezer burned. They're just happy to have it! Maybe you have blankets or towels that are old, faded, discolored, etc. We can put those to good use. You probably have toys laying around that your dog has become uninterested in ........ donate them to a good cause! Just slip us an email or phone call and we'll come and pick up your donated supplies. Or, bring 'em by! Then you could meet some of our wonderful dogs!
Dexter's Rescue Remedy is a non-profit dog and wolfdog rescue located in Northern California. Our rescue is named after the first hound rescued by our group. He was a large male Basset Hound named "Dexter" that was saved from a lonely existence in a backyard in Los Banos, CA. He was full of fleas and ticks, lethargic, anemic, filthy and emaciated. His toenails were so long that his dewclaws had grown into his dewclaw pads by 1/2" and were infected. He also had a lump at the base of his tail the size of a golf ball that his owner said she had never noticed. It took a few months, but we got Dexter all fixed up and finally found the perfect home for him. Dexter was treated like a king by his new family, taking nightly walks in the neighborhood and walks on the beach every weekend. He had such a special way about him that people were drawn to him and would stop to pet and talk about this exceptional boy. He loved attention and would groan while looking up adoringly at the person doling out the attention. Dexter's life was cut short by cancer at 9 years old. But, his two years with his new family were wonderful and probably the best he's ever known. Everyone will miss Dexter very much, but his legacy lives on in our rescue efforts every day. We rescue and rehome scent hounds such as Basset Hounds, Beagles, Bloodhounds, Plott Hounds, Black and Tan Coonhounds, Bluetick Coonhounds, etc., as well as Wolfdogs and some molosser breeds such as Mastiffs, Great Danes, St. Bernards. We also rescue a variety of other breeds, as well as mixed breeds. Our rescue dogs usually come from high kill shelters and, occasionally, owner surrenders as space permits. All of our rescued dogs and Wolfdogs enjoy spacious living areas with other dogs and are not confined to dog runs.
Please contact our rescue by phone or email to inquire about a dog and get an application. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Home checks are required to assure that your new friend will not end up in harms way and will be with you for a very long time. Don't worry if you live a distance from our location. We have people available throughout the US to help with home checks. We always have new dogs coming into our rescue. So, if you don't see the type of dog you are looking for, please check for availability either by phone or email.
