Our Featured Pet...
Meet our newest Basset Hound! This girl was relinquished by her owners when she started howling at the kids for pulling on her ears. No wonder she was howling - when we got there we saw that her ears were very severely infected and we rushed her right to the vet. She had to be anesthetized for the cleaning because she was in so much pain. Upon further examination, we found that her ear drums were ruptured and had been for years. It is doubtful that she will ever regain her hearing. We are monitoring her condition and she is on several medications. However, the vet recommends she have both ear canals removed entirely because, if left intact, they will continue to abscess. This surgery will cost our tiny rescue over $4,000.00 at a specialty clinic. We are asking for donations to save this girl and get her the medical attention she needs. Who We Are
K9 Crusade was formed in 2005 out of the adoration for companion pets. We are an all breed rescue operating out of the La Mesa area and we specialize in rescuing and adopting out otherwise unadoptable dogs (although we don't discriminate against other types of companion pets!). We operate through an amazing network of foster parents so with that, we do not have an actual shelter. We work extensively with trainers to help our foster dogs become the best they can be!
Adopting a friend
We are always looking for loving homes for our adoptable pets. Upon initial approval of your adoption application, we will schedule a homecheck so that we may see where the pet would be living once adopted out. The adoption process takes between 1-2 weeks. Adoption fees vary. WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER. All of our pets are in foster care. To meet them, please fill out and return an adoption application and an Adoption Counselor will call you to schedule a meeting.
