FELINES & FRIENDS IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE RELOCATION OF ABANDONED AND ABUSED ANIMALS.
Established in 1991, FELINES & FRIENDS is a local group, holding adoptions in and around the Los Angeles, California area. On weekends adoptions are held in pet/specialty stores in the hope of finding caring families who wish to add a feline member.
Our cats come to us in many ways. Sometimes circumstances prevent people from keeping their beloved companions. Many of our orphans are "street rescues," having been found hungry and homeless. Occasionally, we will intercept a cat on its way to certain death at an overcrowded shelter.
Consisting of a small core of dedicated people who love cats, we are what's known as a "shelterless shelter." Our orphans stay in the comfort of volunteers' homes until a permanent placement can be made. These cats are not caged and are able to lead normal lives while awaiting homes of their own. FELINES & FRIENDS receives no Federal funds. When donations run short, we reach deep into our own pockets to cover expenses.
All donations go directly to benefit the cats. No salaries are paid and members do not get reimbursed for gas or phones.
FELINES & FRIENDS places approximately 150 cats per year and receives an average of 15 calls daily from people requesting our assistance. To date, we have placed close to 2,500 cats in adoptive homes.
E-mails concerning low-cost spaying and neutering, behavioral problems, nutrition and declawing are also answered by FELINES & FRIENDS representatives.
